  • Re: Monitor's 1920x1080 vs. native resolution

Not trying to be contrary, but I gotta disagree. A lot of first person games involve looking left and right; which is where the tearing comes into play. But anyway, we are straying a bit....

  • Re: Panasonic TH-65PZ850U plasma - 1/6th screen white, other problems

Just to clarify, the ribbon that had a little singe is the narrow one between C6 and C5; not the one that comes from the panel to C6. Doubtful that changes the diagnosis....

If someone was idiotic enough, is it remotely possible to split the traces on the panel's ribbon connector, and wire up a new IC somehow? I'm a patient fellow.

I dunno man; I'm not a big fan of screen tearing. I would think that would negate any minor network advantage you might get. I turn on Vsync any time I think my card can handle a solid 60fps....

    *bump

    (...the lurker steps forth)

    Hi there!

Got a busted laptop still running WinXP in front of the treadmill, the wife's laptop on Win7, my desktop on Win8.1 (with an XP bootable partition too), and phone on Win8.1

I made the upgrade jump with my desktop to Win8 back when it was silly cheap. There was all sorts of silliness at the time about loosing your XP installation with the upgrade, but turned out not to be the case for me. I really don't mind it too bad, except for a silly...
