    Westinghouse LD2240

Hello - I recently acquired a Westinghouse LD2240 that does not power up completely. The TV LED will go bright blue then after a few seconds go red in standby mode. Nothing happens to the screen, it stays dark. After some troubleshooting, when I disconnect the screen cable from the main board, the LED stays blue and the back light comes on. As I continued my troubleshooting I found this chip that seemed to have shorted. I can not find what this chip is when I do a google. The chip ID is A1C2565.. See the photo. The location is U9 on the main board.I have also read that the EEprom goes bad as well in this set. The EEprom location is U16. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Looks like AIC2565.

Try removing it, and check all pins for a short to ground (on the board, with the chip removed.)

Since it failed around the SW node (pin 2,3,4 area), it is probably just a failed IC.

Thanks Tom for the response. I will remove it and check for shortage. Where can I purchase the IC from?

I did remove the IC chip..it was a bare to get out, I cleaned the pads and checked for shorts did not find any to ground. It seems when i was removing the teh IC chip I managed to damage the capacitor that goes between pin 1 and pin3.. How can I repair this, do I bridge it with solder? or try to get the capacitor replaced. Thanks

Hello .. I finally received my components along with the correct capacitor. Now the TV stays on with the black-light when everything is hooked but but there is not video. The inputs do not change at all whether be via the remote or TV buttons. Any ideas what maybe the cause here? I don't want to dump allot of money on this set. The audio does not work as well.

I have also read that the EEPROM gets corrupted and gives issues with powering up etc... would a corrupted EEPROM pose a problem I outlined?

is there anywhere I can download the firmware for the EEPROM and flash it via the USB port?

Managed to get another main board for the unit and still same issues no video and audio. Is there a possibility that both main boards are bad? All the voltages check fine. would this possibly point toward a bad EEPROM? thanks

ASRock B650M PRO RS - BIOS CHIP 25Q256JW BLOCKED BY STATUS REGISTERS
                    by DynaxSC
                    Hi

I have a very strange issue with the BIOS SPI chip of an ASRock B650M PRO RS motherboard.
The SPI chip is an Winbond 25Q256JWEQ model (1V8).
The motherbaord doas not POST - it lits only CPU and DRAM EZ Debug Leds, and stays that way forever.
The Flashback function of the motherbaord is also not working, despite all instructions followed correctly - I'm 100% sure of this.

I have then desoldered the chip, backupped the contents, and tried to earease the chip in order to program stock image, but the chip is locked by status registers SREG2 (TB) and SREG6...

Guide to transplant MEC1503 EC chip and EEPROM reprogamming for T14s gen 2 and X13 gen 2

This is a guide that I am writing for helping others to replace their MEC1503 EC chip if it breaks (or to get around an inconvenient prompt to the BIOS). This forum has been extremely helpful to me so I would like to contribute to help others. I will tell you right now that this task is very difficult to do. You MUST have experience and tools to do precision micro-soldering, BGA reballing, trace repair, and general laptop repair skills.

There are some specialty tools needed to do this task. The replacement MEC1503 chips can be acquired from Aliexpress. Do not buy the bare chips as...

Lenovo Legion 5 15IAH7 - location of BIOS chip
                    by Mirenia
                    Hi everyone,

                    I've got a Lenovo Legion 5 15IAH7 with no post/no boot issue.

                    The mainboard is a NM-E241 Rev 1.0

Now I am searching for the BIOS chip so I can reflash it.
But I have some difficulties to identify the correct chip. The schemantics somehow are not really helpful for me (I am a beginner with Laptop schemantics)

I found 3 Winson chips and one GigaDevice chip as you can see on the screenshots.
My guess its the W25Q128JVSIN (UB3) because it is the biggest from all.

I attached the pages of the schemantics from the...

My pc updated bios through Windows Update and I was greeted with BLACK SCREEN WITH CPU FAN MAX SPEED. I don't think there is even a screen signal, because it triggers my monitor for a couple seconds and then the monitor turns off. I tried the other outputs as well.
                    1. I tried clearing bios, resetting bios, removed the CMOS battery, removed m.2 ssd, wifi, and ram. Still black screen with CPU fan blasting.
                    2. I tried using the Lenovo BIOS CD and BIOS USB, but neither worked. At least I couldn't get anything to work.
                    3. I could only locate two chips that look like bios chips. Could someone verify this
