    Toshiba 24d1334b2....vestel!!

    Hi Guys,

Would you believe this! two weeks outside the the warranty...!!

OK so set is dead, I removed the rear cover to find the black mark on the inside of the rear cover, it seems to line up with LF1 (with copper coils on it) to be honest not sure what it is, I have used a meter across the four pins, it looks like it is two coils? so checked bottom left to bottom right, top right to top left and both are O/C, checked the diodes and resistors, FS1 one is OK also.

So guess I am hoping that by finding and replacing LF1 it will fix the issue.

Typical 2 weeks out side of warranty, could you take some pictures of the underside of the board please ?

Looks like the ntc thermistor has blown, the green thing next to the line filter, check and see if its cracked.

Hi, I just looked it it with eye glass and the black on it is like a silicon stuff/rubbery and cleaned off ok, I checked it with a meter and it is not O/C.

It gives a resistance of 11.3 ohms.

Does anyone know what the component is that seems to have blowup ? Just not sure what to search for and if my suggestion that is is O/C and it should not be?

Can you take a close up of the thermoster and the rest of the area near the burn mark.

See pic, I had used a pen on top of the rectangular cap above the component that is O/C circuit that I would expect should not be to as a way to remember which way round the square component went it with the copper coils on it, so do not think it is blown or damaged.

Start to desolder things in that input area, visually inspect them (and smell them) and test them on your multimeter.

Hi, I have checked all the diodes and all OK, I have used a 10x eye glass and all the components look OK and nothing really smells bad.

I am intrigued as to this square component with coils on, what are they, should it be O/C?

Check the solder joints of all four leg and the copper pads for all four legs to see if they are still making contact with legs of the common mode filter choke LF1.
Those 3 grey rectangular caps are for AC LINE NOISE FILTER caps X/Y type which are connected between Line and Neutral.
                              Do the resistance teat between 1 & 2, 3 & 4: it should be around 1 Ohm.
I have a feeling the copper pad is blown up due to poor solder joint.

The line filter is not bad, but the solder joints on the legs of the line filter to the solder pads are more liklely to be damaged.
The line filter X/Y caps can be removed and the circuit will still function, since the main fuse did not blow then the caps are not shorted, the caps are connected across the AC LINE.
He needs to check the resistance between those points I marked to see if it shows open circuit. Those grey caps and the choke are for AC LINE noise filter.

Those grey rectangular caps can be taken out, the circuit does not need it for the power supply to function, I doubt that they are bad.

                                        Hi Budm,

                                        I have checked the following:

Resistance check between pin 1 and 2 = Open Circuit
Resistance check between pin 3 and 4 = Open Circuit

I have de-soldered and re-solder LF1 and checked from the back side of the PCB to the top of the leg as it goes into LF1 and all OK, should I get a reading across the coils of LF1?
