    LG 0c501R Screen Problems

    Hello from a new member.

I have an 8 year old 50" LG Plasma TV from Singapore

I attach a pic showing the problems. They are bright white sparkles that appear small and scattered at first then expand vertically to fill the screen then shrink and disappear, ore somtimes stay for a while. I have not been able to diagnose if they come when unit heats up after hours of watching as they just appear, whenever they feel like it seems. I've tested on all video sources (HDMI,Cable,Component) and the problem seems universal. I placed a 1000w voltage regulator on the TV to see if it is from power fluctuations but no dice. At times the problem simply disappears for long periods (days) and the pic is perfect, then comes back in small doses or full blown unviewable pictures in short periods or days as well. The audio is unaffected as you can see the color itself is fine.

As a backgrounder my local TV repair has recently replaced an IC and capacitor to solve a power problem (no power at all). That seemed to work out fine and two weeks later this new problem appears. The local guy has not been able to resolve this since. I dont want him touching it anymore for fear of further damaging 'one of the last Plasmas on the planet :-)'

Any ideas? I'm not electronics repair guy but more than capable of rooting around the back if need be. Re: the attached photo, you might see some yellow streaking but these are o the photo. the live screen shows only the white aprkles.

    Thanks in advance....

      Thanks,

I have another repair guy look at the TV and he seems to think its the same thing as well. Problem is parts availability it seems. He said he'll try a swap with another working TV of the same specs and see if that corrects it then at least we can wait out the parts.
