Looks like a gamma chip failure, photos of the boards and t-con.

I'm gonna disagree and say bad panel because it looks like only half the panel is affected... gamma would affect whole panel.

Possible, BUT if you look at the ODS for the 120hz its not being affected on both sides.

Also if you look at Bro's face in photo his face is crossing over the middle and it looks very solarized on both left and right. As well as the FBI agent in the backround.

The Dude up close to the left, has a red halo around him.

Try this op, with the TV off, if you have the original remote hit in sequence MUTE,1,8,2 and power. This will put you in to service mode from here locate the menu option that has the test patterns and run those and see. Using a TV signal is the worse way to trouble shoot as all sorts of things could be affecting the picture.

Tom66 is probably right but eh might as well check it out anyway for your own piece of mind!

I say might as well check the GAMMA Voltages just to see what they are like for future reference.

I had a 42" Samsung doing much the same......

Cured it by wedging the tab-bonds. Its been OK for nearly a year now.....

Never had any luck fixing tabs, seems the ones I get are beyond saving. Funny enough, I have a LNT37 sitting here that I got for free. Works great no issues but the lady that gave it to me said that around 2 hours on the spot the left side of the screen about a hands width thick the screen goes all scrambled.

So I though well bad tabs, I just left it alone. Fast Forward I was working on a 5084 plasma and I needed another compatible power supply so I this little 37 was the oldest panel I had on hand that was around the same age as the plasma so pulled it apart.

when I got to the power supply, EVERY cap besides the 2 large ones high voltage caps were popped/domed or leaking. I was even amazed this thing even turned on let alone worked as I did time the 2 hour deal and saw it with my own eyes.

I replaced 2 caps 450uv 10v and a 850uf 25v with 2 1000uf 35v caps that were on the mainboard plug side of the power supply and it fired up the plasma enough to get voltage from the plasma mainboard (later was found defective) after that. Put it back in the 37" and let it run 8 hours constant and no screen issues at all not a one.

I plan on going back and replacing the rest just didn't have time that day.

                Caps can be strange things....

Sometimes, you'll get a physically perfect looking cap,--yet its bad, low capacity and high ESR.
Other times, you'll get a cap thats bulging ready to burst, its 'foreskin' all pulled back and wrinkled,--yet it tests perfect!

                  No kidding!

Never seen caps cause tab bond like symptoms before, even more strange this LCD display has/had strange shadow splotches in the screen and after I did this temp cap fix they only show up when the unit is first turned on and go away once its been on for a few min. I think once I replace all the "badcaps" they will be gone permanently I think.

Guess if you starve the mainboard/T-con of power they do funny things! I wonder how long this Panel as been like this before I got it!

                  Sorry OP! Free bumpage!
