Ok start off by saying I have some tv repair but not much on the receiver end.
Picked up a Sony str-dn850 home receiver when I first plugged it in powered it up it came on and the system check relay clicked and about 3 seconds later it went into protection mode.
I powered it off and on. Comes on no problem.
Hooked up speakers and it started to pop and crackle but the volume was all the way down.. and I was only getting that sound out of the left channel. Right channel had no sound.. but every time I turn the volume up it has a smell crackling sound on ever volume number......

I tested it first with the negative connector disconnected
Here are the numbers. I got 2 different numbers on the same per wire.
1. 42.xx dcv and 122.xx dcv
2. 39.83 dcv and 120.xx dcv
3. 41.43 dcv and 121.00 dcv
4. 40.50 dcv and 120.50 dcv
Then I did it with the negative connector plugged in, then I got the same first numbers just no high dcv. -

Was just giving this tv. Haier hl40xp1 when it's on it is very bright. I can see what's on, Just really bright. I'm thinking it the t-con board. I fixed one years ago but I don't remember what the pin pads on the t-con board are suppose to be.
Low to high I believe, but I'm getting 1.1v , 1.4v and 1.5v from just about all the pins. T-con board T400hw01 v4
They need to gradually climb up in voltage right?
But anyways does it sound like it's the t-con board anyways???m

Need help on eliminating if its the ldblk board or if it is a bad L.E.D. I have come a cross some bad leds in tv's already. So I just bought a led tv backlight tester. Model GJ2C.
I have played with it a little on a bad set of leds. So I'm somewhat getting the hang of it.
Comes on for 2 seconds I can see channels 4 but then turns off
But anyways kdl-55ex723 with 4 red blinks. I tested the strips in the tv and I'm getting 180v out of each wire. There are 4 negatives and 4 positives. Is there a way to test the ldblk board.. -

I did see the connectors but I just thought it would be for external surround sound speakers. But it was my fault I didn't even look or even seen there was no internal speakers.... Wow it's been sometime that I seen external speakers on the side of the tv.. I still feel like an axx. LolololLeave a comment:

Never removed the board. Repaired in the set. But I unplugged all wires and reinstalled them.
In menu
Surround is on
Speaker is on
On the main board.
F1 fuse 12v both sides
F2 fuse 5v both sides

Had the vizio death black screen. No picture no sound.
Just vizio logo on the frame of the tv lighting up. So I found the little fuse f3 on the main board
bad. So I replaced the fuse. Tv works but now I have no sound. I first tried it with HDMI nothing. Just tried it with rca' s still nothing.. checked the output voltages on the power board I'm getting my 5v, 12, and 24v.
Can it be something on the main board again. -

Yea the photo is from my set. Sometimes it doesn't come on I have to unplug and plug it back in for it to come on. When I does 10 or 15 seconds later that one led will light up too. But I do have to unplug one of the other good strip for it to work if not the lights go crazy on off on off on off....Leave a comment:

Well I do know one strip of L.E.D'S are bad do I really need to test them?
I did find a set on ebay. But they are Samsung and mine are LG. but I would change them all out to the Samsung one's. The auction does say they are from LF501EM4F.
