    Stupid design! (Polaroid TDA-03211C)

Ok.. to start, Polaroid knew that this was a crappy design so well that they put a "Quick Access" panel on the back which requires removing one screw to access the power and main board. Not a good sign lol. To add insult to injury, let's use scrap metal bars with globs of solder on them for jumpers and junction points! Look at the main board... someone was scared to death of tantalum. You know it's bad when they are using fake knockoff versions of chinese junk knockoff caps. Look at that 450v filter cap. holy shi... anyways, that's my rant lol. enjoy

I fixed one of these awhile back and the only thing keeping it from working were the two bad 150uf 450v caps feeding the backlight circuits

That and the filter cap are the only issues with this one too. Just an extremely cheap/ cheesy design

You should remove that plastic piece off that main filter cap that looks domed, I think it is just a deformed plastic piece. The common problem with no backlghts are due to the two 10uF 450VDC caps by the inveter transformer, from the look of the picture, looks like the top one has slightly domed top.

Yup the one is. I pulled both and the filter cap a few hours ago. Good to go now. Always nice to have a simple cheap fix for a customer once and a while even if it is a silly designed tv

Also the 2 Fairchild fets fail sometimes next to the 2 10uf 450v caps, if the caps fail they can cause those to short too. I have had a couple of these and an Element FLX-3202.
