Issue on DC/DC chip on Samsung UE55MU9000 motherboard

I have a problem with my Samsung UE55MU9000T TV, which is out of order. The TV starts up normally, but after about a minute, horizontal lines begin to appear on the screen, and after another minute, only horizontal lines remain.

I noticed that the DC/DC converter on the motherboard (BN41-02570B) gets slightly warm, and when it reaches approximately 43 degrees Celsius, the horizontal lines appear. If I cool the converter with a freeze spray, the lines disappear, but of course, they reappear after a few seconds. I disconnected the LVDS cables and observed that the temperature of the DC/DC converter increased, just as it does when the LVDS cables are connected.

I installed another motherboard initially without connecting the LVDS cables to monitor the temperature of the DC/DC converter. I observed that the converter did not exceed approximately 32 degrees Celsius. Next, I reconnected the LDVS cables, and the TV worked well for 5 minutes before horizontal lines appeared. I concluded that the original motherboard was faulty due to the panel, which also burn the replacement motherboard.

I would like to perform further tests, for example, to verify that a SMD component on the panel is not the cause. To do this, I would like to replace the DC/DC converter, part number VPM1GMA, but I can't find it. I only find part numbers VPM1RT, VPM1R0A, VPMS2RT, or VPMS3RT.

Since I haven't found a datasheet for this component, do you know which ones are compatible with the VPM1GMA model ?

    Thank you

you have short inside the Display Glass at CKV rail.. nothings you can do only Tape masking.. try first with top LVDS

What makes you think that the problem is in the T-CON controller (VPM1GMA)? Install a jumper between the FB_TRDY_1 and FB_TRDY_3 test points and check each half of the panel by disconnecting one LVDS cable.

Try to resolder the PMIC (VGMA...) , first try a simple pass with fresh solder on the sides of it, without removing it , if the situation improves needs a complete resoldering, this on the original board, but before connecting to panel, erase the serial flash on the panel, or better get a salvaged content from the net.. (save the previous content before,)

            Thank you Diah and lotas.

I started by masking the CKV signals on the top LVDS, but it didn't change anything; the display is fine for about a minute, then vertical lines appear.
Then, by masking the CKV signals on the bottom LVDS, I immediately get vertical lines.
The same thing happens if I only mask the CKV signals on the bottom LVDS, I also immediately get horizontal lines.

By only masking the top CKV signals, once the vertical lines have appeared, if I spray the VPM1GMA component with a cooling spray, the image becomes fine again until the temperature rises above 44 degrees Celsius, at which point the vertical lines reappear.

These points need to be connected with a jumper, a thin wire.

Colorful LCD Vertical Lines on Samsung ue55es8090
                      by Falki
Hello there, ive recently found an older 55inch Samsung SmartTV.
Sadly it has vertical lines at the left and one line in the middle-right.

I have already tested out the connections and have looked at the soldered ribbons of the LCD panel to see if some contacts got loose by pushing them a bit but with no success.
I have factory resetted the TV as well but also with no luck.

I am afraid that it is indeed a LCD Panel issue but there are NO scratches or any impact-marks..

A similar issue has been posted as well but also with no actual response ...

Connecting an LVDS/eDP cable into a live motherboard
                      by ResoluteHawk
Could anyone explain the reasoning behind why connecting an LVDS or eDP cable into a laptop motherboard, with the battery still connected, kills the CPU/PCH/SuperIO/GPU?

Today I had a customer with a Lenovo Legion 5 that I diagnosed as a dead iGPU inside their Ryzen 5900HX. They told me that they connected their screen to the motherboard without first disconnecting the battery.

I want to understand the nitty gritty behind why it kills components if power is not disconnected first.

Samsung un82ru88000f - Boot loop sort of but can correct with taping of LVDS ribbon
                      by NolesFan
Hello all... TV started boot looping. Opened the back panel and tried to isolate the problem. Just PSB no boot loop. PSB and MB no boot loop. Plug in the LVDS from panel to MB and boot looping starts up. It doesnt matter of order that I plug the LVDS ribbons back in, only 1 and no boot loop but as soon as 2nd one plugs in boot looping. I then noticed a flicker on the screen when I was closing the clip on the harness to the LVDS. Shut the lights off so I can see better, and I noticed as i slowly close it, I will get a picture, but as soon as it clips in, I lose picture and booting happens. So I...

                      Samsung QN50Q60t lines on screen
                      by jeyoung12
                      Hi all
I have lines on the screen...which is an age old problem that can be remedied by watching Youtube videos and getting out the tape.
My issue (after successfully fixing a different sammy tv with a separate tcon board and isolating the side of the panel...):

This tv has an integrated tcon...so it is a bit more confusing when trying to isolate the clocks.
It has a c ribbon and i have taken each end out to see if that will isolate the lines. instead, it makes it much worse ALL over the tv!

So....i don't know what end of the C ribbon to work with...
