I soldered a resistor to the 5v stb and to the ps on pin and all the voltages are what they are suppose to be on the board. Also the big can is showing 365. But I am still using the same meter. So do you think the supply is ok. What do I do now?

Well guess what? I soldered the resistor to 5vstb and to ps on like I said and then out of luck I looked at the wire harness' and I had one connected wrong. Now the TV powers on fine and I have putting it back together to see if it receives signal. Now why or how did the resistor fix it?

Well, what happen to the resistance testing on the output pin of that over heated regulator?
The resistor is not fixing the TV, it is simulating the signal (ps_on) that the main board is not sending out, so you still have problem with the main board.
Is the regulator a 3.3V fixed regulator for sure? What is the P/N printed on top of the body?
The p/n on the regulator says EH16A 015F72, Well I actually forgot to check the voltage after the TV started working. I just put it all back together. I will take the back off in a day or 2 and see what it says. The TV works fine. There is no standby light when you turn it off. Will it damage it further by letting it stay on with the resistor? It works fine with the remote and everything. If the mainboard had a issue would it still be able to receive signal with no issues.
Well, one function that does not work is the PS_ON, so by leaving the resistor in place, the power supply is never turned off and running in full 24/7 instead of being in standby mode.
So the regulator still gets hot? How about the output voltage, is it 3.3V at the center pin?
Running the power supply without the load (the biggest load which is the inverter is not turned on when TV is turned off) can be bad also. You can leave it and see what will happen but i will not leave it plugged into the outlet if I am not at home.
Ok I took it back apart and removed the resistor and it still works fine but there is no red standby light when the tv is not powered on. The regulator that was getting hot reads 0 volts, the one under it reads 4v on 1 outside pin and 2v on the middle pin. The big tab on it reads 2v. This is with power off. Then with power on the one that was getting hot is not hot anymore maybe just very very slight warm. But then it reads just like the first one when you power on the tv. Is this weird or what. Anyways the TV is working fine without the resistor. Do you think there is any danger with it now at this time.
Since your meter does not have the resolution to read the correct voltage, I think your new regulator that you replaced may have fixed the problem.
You can verify by check the PS_ON signal when TV is off and when TV is on, it should toggle between <1VDC and >2.5VDC, if it does then it is working.
Thats just it, I did not replace the regulator. I guess it decided to start working on its on. Because all I did was solder on the resister and it started working fine. Then I removed the resistor today and it still works fine. Do you think there is any fire hazard now or anything there has been no mods done to either board now. It is just like it came from the store except no standby light when it is powered off. Do we really know that there should be red standby light on this TV?
I do not know about what the standby light should be in this model. So I do not know why that regulator does not get hot anymore either, you can see that the board is turning brown from the heat.
You need to verify that PS_ON is not present when TV is turned off, you can also by checking to see if the 24V is still present when the TV if off, if it is still there, then the power supply is still fully on.
Well I checked what you told me to check Bud and this is what I find, With the power on and tv working as normal, The voltages are all correct except 1v less on everything I checked. Must just be the way my meter reads. and the ic that was getting hot is no longer and 1 pin reads 4 and the middle pin reads 2. With TV powered off the ic reads 0 on all pins. The ic directly under it reads 4 on 1 pin and 2 on the middle pin when powered off. Is this normal for some voltage to be on the main board when powered off?. Also when TV is powered off voltage is 4 on the stb pin and 0 on all the 12v and 24v pins. When powered on all voltages read 11 for the 12v pins and 23v for the 24v pins. So I assume the TV is fine at this time. Correct? Sorry for the long reply just trying to explain everything.

As budm mentioned, your clamp meter does not give enough resolution to determine if your voltage regulator is bad or not. Most regulators have a tolerance of 1 to 2%. See
If you are going to be repairing more electronics in the future, I suggest getting a better meter than the one you posted. If you are only doing this one time, then the above pictured will be okay for the purposes of troubleshooting this problem.
If you want/need a "better" meter, give me an idea of your budget and I can make suggestions.
PS. Harbor Freight generally gives away the red Centech multimeter for free. I wouldn't recommend for any high voltage or current measurements, but if you are measuring less than 24V DC, it should be fine.
