Zach- I appreciate your help on this. Both of these links will help. Hopefully I will get my SU card today and get it installed. I will keep you updated on my progress. Thanks again.

I have installed my new SU card. However, I have these little black horizontal lines going accross the top of my screen. I can tweak the ribbon cables and some of the lines go away, but not totally. Should I get some type of cleaner or emory cloth for my ribbon cables?

Try to just remove and replace the ribbons on the top of the board. Otherwise isopropyl alcohol and a q tip will work fine

This is quite a common issue after installing the ribbons. You will have to undo the cables and reinstall them. But when you reinstall them,
make sure to press them in slightly until you hear or feel a slight "click". Also make sure the ribbon is aligned perfectly parallel.

Only ever adjust them with the power off (unplugged!)

Cleaning is rarely necessary but as zach suggests isopropyl alcohol (99% or above) can be used...

Zach - after I installed my new SU card, I had these little black horizontal lines going across the top portion of my Plasma screen. I say little, but some of them were 2" tall. I could tweak the ribbon cable a little bit and most of them would go away, but not all. I never could get them to all go away. Do I need to look at cleaning the ribbon contacts, and maybe taking a can of air and blowing out the ribbon jack. What is the best way to do this?

I guess by remove and replace , you are referring to receding the ribbon cable connections? If so, I have done tried that several times. I picked up some Electronic Cleaner at the local electronics store. However, I am not sure if it is a good idea to spray this cleaner on this ribbon cable or not. What about the emory cloth, is that a good or bad idea?

Thanks Tom. I will try that. I feel like I am putting the ribbon cable in far enough, but I have never heard or felt a click.

!!Repaired!! - good news. The SU card was the culprit of my flickering screen. I had a little trouble getting the horizontal black lines to go away, but finally got the ribbon cables seated correctly and now everything looks good. Thank you Zacheriaj , LTank, Tom66, & edevans122. I could not have repaired this without your help.

I agree - It was fun and a nice fix. I was like a little kid waiting for a toy to come in the mail. Once I got the SU card , I was so excited about getting it installed . The whole process was enjoyable. Thanks again for your help.
......... I have a old Samsung Rear-projection TV (Model HCN653W) out in my shop that I am thinking about working on. This is a 65" high definition TV that is probably at least 10 years old. It actually still works, except I have a convergence problem with it. The people or objects on the TV screen have a red or light blue ghost image on each of them. Is this a card that can be changed out?

Re: Panasonic Plasma TV with flickering screen

I am bringing this thread back to life, apologies to the Zombie Apocalypse mutants.
This thread sound like my problems, Panasonic tc-p55gt31.

Around 5 years old, flickering (screen reflash?) on top half with TV cold or hot.
I can minimize it by lowering brightness and contrast .

The SU board may or may not be the problem, along with the flickering, I see images from the last channel I was watching.
I tried the scrolling white/black bar for 15 minutes with no change.

I also have the 13 dashed line in the top 4" of screen occasionaly.

Behavior exists with, cable, antenna HDMI, and menus.

Who repairs these TV's in New Jersey?

                            by Alicat
                            Hello,

Stopped by this site trying to fix my parents Panasonic Plasma TV.

                            Model number is TH-50PZ85U

Power comes on and the red power light stays on solid.

Did a few checks like hold the power button on for 60 seconds, hold the - Volume while holding the menu button, no luck, still@ blank grey screen as the screen lights up very vague.

I also hear a few clicks.

I also think my parents said there was a thunderstorm and the TV failed after that.

Section 6 in the service manual talks about power and no screen,...

Panasonic Plasma screen interference on left half of screen
                            by Zelek11
My Panasonic Plasma model P55VT50 has started displaying "interference" on just the left half of the screen only (left when facing the screen). Sometimes it's concentrated in about the first 30 seconds after startup, then disappears. Other times it's fine at startup and then randomly does it later on. When it flashes the interference it's very quick and doesn't stay on the screen unless it flashes repeatedly in a row.

This image is a screen shot from a video I took. This is an example of the interference at its worst. Often the interference is much smaller...

Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Gen 10 - Flickering Screen
                            by Ado02
                            Hello everyone,

We recently replaced the OLED screen on a Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Gen 10. After about a month, the replacement screen began to flicker. Initially, updating the IntelĀ® IrisĀ® Xe graphics driver resolved the issue for about a week. However, when the problem recurred, updating the driver again had no effect.

The flickering only occurs once the system reaches the Windows login screen. Interestingly, if we disable the Intel GPU driver or connect the laptop to an external monitor, the flickering stops. We have tried installing two different replacement screens,...

panasonic TH-42PC77U plasma television half screen problem
                            by renech
                            hello,
I hope someone on this forum can assist me.
                            I have a panasonic TH-42PC77U plasma television.
the lower 1/2 of the screen has become flaky....in and out, then finally goes black and you can only see the top portion.
i have performed the reset to default settings quite a few times. Panasonic recommended..did not believe this would help...it didn't.
I have removed the back panel and looked around for something obvious...burn marks in a board, etc....nothing obvious...
I have read some posts that suggest the problem is related to the boards on the left...

Hello everybody! Posting this in hopes somebody has some expertise that leads to a clear path of troubleshooting that saves me a lot of time!

My macbook has the flex cable problem, the one that prevents the screen turning on. Ive been dealing with this for the last 3 years. Last year it went dead and I managed to fix it following youtube tutorials. But my fix wasnt the best, the problem returned a month later. This week, it went dead again. I again tried to fix it.

This time the original cable broke too close to the screen, it can't be fixed without tearing the screen...
