I have a Panasonic Viera Plasma TV (42PX75U) that the top half of the screen will start flickering intermmittently with a white screen. The TV will actually work fine for about 2 hours or so when I first turn it on, and then the flickering will start. Then it will get worse and then finally the whole picture will completely go away. Then I get the 7 blinking red light. If I unplugged the power to the TV and let it sit for a while, it will work fine again, and then repeat. Any ideas on what card this might be?

sounds heat related to me. make sure all vents are clean and fans are running properlly -
Re: Panasonic Plasma TV with flickering screen
Can you take clear pictures of the back of the tv with the back removed. and then clear pictures of each board. (unplug the tv and let it sit for a good half hour before doing so. Plasmas especially carry enough residual juice to knock you over to the next area codeLast edited by zacheriaj; 09-13-2014, 05:52 PM.You Can't Succeed Until You're Willing to FailComment

Re: Panasonic Plasma TV with flickering screen
Yes - I will try do that today and reply back to you. I really believe this is heat related. I took the back off and cleaned all the vents real good and set a box fan up to blow on it while it was turned on. It played for a long time without and problems. However, when I put the cover back on and let it run normally, it lasted about 2 hours before it started flickering and then shutting down.Comment

Re: Panasonic Plasma TV with flickering screen
I agree - I took the back off of the TV and cleaned it up real good. Then I set a box fan up to blow on the back. I never did shut down, but it did flicker some. When I put the cover back on it and ran it normally, it shut down in about 2 hours.Comment

Re: Panasonic Plasma TV with flickering screen
Zacheriaj - here are the pictures you requested. I was thinking the SU card on the top left might be a suspect for my trouble, since this card is attached to the top half of the Plasma screen. I may have to send you 2 sets of pictures for clarity.Comment

Yes, SU board is the likely cause. SU = top buffer boardPlease do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

+1. Shopjimmy appears to be out of stock for that board however there are a few choices on ebay if you find a good seller.

Amazon has one for 20 buck. Lowes and Home Depot has them for a little higher price

That's about the cheapest I see with best feedback. Consider you are getting both SU and SC boards you could easily turn around and sell the SC or keep it for a spare. Shopjimmy.com is generally preferred but they are out of stock right nowYou Can't Succeed Until You're Willing to FailComment

Re: Panasonic Plasma TV with flickering screen
Zach - I ended up purchasing these 2 cards on Ebay. I actually messed up doing the Paypal thing and placed 2 orders for these cards, so now I have 4 cards coming. They were suppose to be here two days ago on Friday, but they never made it. I guess I will get them Monday or Tuesday. May need a little assistance changing out this SU card properly. Do you have any helpful hints? What is the correct procedure on disconnecting the ribbon cables going to the Plasma screen? There is also a weird looking connector close to the bottom of the SU card.Comment

Re: Panasonic Plasma TV with flickering screen
Here's a good video that shows how they disconnect. Try not to touch the contacts on the cable and be very gentle. If the cables aren't seated right, it can cause image problems such as lines on the screen or scrambling. The wire connector looks like it simply lifts up by pinching both sides of it and carefully pulling up. There may be a tab on it to push in too.

by AlicatHello,
Stopped by this site trying to fix my parents Panasonic Plasma TV.
Model number is TH-50PZ85U
Power comes on and the red power light stays on solid.
Did a few checks like hold the power button on for 60 seconds, hold the - Volume while holding the menu button, no luck, still@ blank grey screen as the screen lights up very vague.
I also hear a few clicks.
I also think my parents said there was a thunderstorm and the TV failed after that.

by Zelek11My Panasonic Plasma model P55VT50 has started displaying "interference" on just the left half of the screen only (left when facing the screen). Sometimes it's concentrated in about the first 30 seconds after startup, then disappears. Other times it's fine at startup and then randomly does it later on. When it flashes the interference it's very quick and doesn't stay on the screen unless it flashes repeatedly in a row.
This image is a screen shot from a video I took. This is an example of the interference at its worst. Often the interference is much smaller...10-14-2022, 04:54 PM -
by Ado02Hello everyone,
We recently replaced the OLED screen on a Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Gen 10. After about a month, the replacement screen began to flicker. Initially, updating the IntelĀ® IrisĀ® Xe graphics driver resolved the issue for about a week. However, when the problem recurred, updating the driver again had no effect.
The flickering only occurs once the system reaches the Windows login screen. Interestingly, if we disable the Intel GPU driver or connect the laptop to an external monitor, the flickering stops. We have tried installing two different replacement screens,...12-16-2024, 02:33 PM -
by renechhello,
I hope someone on this forum can assist me.
I have a panasonic TH-42PC77U plasma television.
the lower 1/2 of the screen has become flaky....in and out, then finally goes black and you can only see the top portion.
i have performed the reset to default settings quite a few times. Panasonic recommended..did not believe this would help...it didn't.
I have removed the back panel and looked around for something obvious...burn marks in a board, etc....nothing obvious...
I have read some posts that suggest the problem is related to the boards on the left... -
by Ryan.manHello everybody! Posting this in hopes somebody has some expertise that leads to a clear path of troubleshooting that saves me a lot of time!
My macbook has the flex cable problem, the one that prevents the screen turning on. Ive been dealing with this for the last 3 years. Last year it went dead and I managed to fix it following youtube tutorials. But my fix wasnt the best, the problem returned a month later. This week, it went dead again. I again tried to fix it.
This time the original cable broke too close to the screen, it can't be fixed without tearing the screen... - Loading...
