Sylvania LC320SS9 A has standby light, flashes green 12 times then back to standby

and i havent got much further than that. i took off the cover and took some pictures. i see 167v at the main filter cap on the "inverter board"
this one is weird..the psu seems split across the 2 boards that i would want to call main board and inverter board. then the TCON is also shared with a second motherboard... what do i call these boards???

found the service manual from elektrotanya. forgot that they have everything.

they are notorious for the inverter transformers going bad and those 4 diodes also going bad at the bottom of your second pic. and the wires going to the ccfl's touching each other and getting hot and shorting out but that doesn't seem to be your case when looking at the pics the don't seem to be touching. i would check the resistance of each of the inverter transformers and compare the readings with each other. and check those 4 diodes to see what they read.

In my experience, the inverter problem, or the wires arcing problem both let a picture show for a second then it shuts off. I have the 22" version of this set with the same problem. It looks a lot like your pictures. I've found that if I disconnect one of the metal connectors from the PSU to what they call the digital board (I think it was the middle one, I really can't remember off the top of my head) the set will power on but only works with HDMI and I don't think the sound worked but again, I can't remember. I think it's something in the audio circuit or the analog video circuit but in my case, the set was free and isn't worth much, so that's as far as I've gone with it.

Try disconnecting the connectors on the bottom of the T-Con, one at a time. If the first one doesn't do the trick, reconnect it and try the second one, then the third one.

philliesfan thanks, i tested all those and they all seem fine. diodes all only work in one direction, and have same resistance in that direction. infinate in the other...
for the transformers on the small windings i get 0 resistance
on the bigger windings i get around 125k ohms on each one, give or take a few k...
so seems like thats not it. guess ill try what johnboy suggested. too bad u only got the 22" and its hardly worth fixing :/ 32 inch is as small as im going to bother with from now on for sure.

i tried disconnecting each of those 3 metal bridge connectors (my new least favorite connector by the way)
the first 2 made the tv not even show the 5v standby light
the 3rd resulted in the same "blinking green light 12 or 13 times then back to red"

the service manual is pretty good. lots of block diagrams and schematics and even pictures of the boards...but no beep codes...and i still suck at reading block diagrams and schematics to actually figure out what to test next

ok i went back and looked at disconnecting those metal bridge connectors again and i discovered that johnboy was right. disconnecting the middle one actually does something. the red light comes on, and when i push power it goes away. then like 10 seconds pass... then i see the backlights flashing. sometimes its a long time between flashes. sometimes its only a half second between.
so i unplug all the ccfl connectors and try them one at a time. each one makes the lamp flash in the same way, unpredictably. it will just keep doing this over and over.
now do i try the shorting of the timer pin on the IC?

ok my IC is either not the same, or heavymachines read his wrong because he lists he has
                  OZ9926
                  but i have
                  OZ9966SN
as far as i can tell from the pictures we have the exact same boards...weird.
hope i can find the right datasheet or it will be toast!

i really dont understand why on page 12 in the pinout diagram they show 2 totally different chips both connected to the CCFL
AND the print is so tiny i cant even read it when i zoom in.
definitely cant tell from this which pin is ground and which pin is timer with any kind of confidence...

ok after staring at it more i think i get that its 2 of the same chip, one is just backwards. idk i guess they are saying u can chain em together or something. anyway i can see that timer is pin 15 but i dont see one labeled GND. do i have to ground 15 to the ground pin of this IC or can i ground it to chassis ground? cuz that would be a lot easier. these pins are tiny!

it kinda looks like they are saying pin 6 is labeled GNDA but i just cant be sure!

also i cant find the datasheet for OZ9966SN
                      only for OZ9966
what if the SN really matters?

oh sweet i found a SM on elektrotanya that has the OZ9966SN chip in it for a similar (if not the same) inverter/PSU board
and i just realized the schematic was already there in the earlier SM i found. whoops!

both of them clearly label OZ9966SN pin15 is timer and pin 6 is GND... should i really short them together? sounds crazy!

the pins are so tiny...idk if i can actually do this.

ugh i tried for about an hour with just a single strand of copper wire just thin enough that i could see theoretically fitting on one of those pins without bridging, but i could not make the solder happen...its just too small..i almost bridged some pins with solder but i cleaned it up ok...tv is not working any better or worse..
so stumped here how to conclude which board is at fault!
