LED indicator for testing LED string to find out if the string is open

I just build this for troubleshooting to find out if one or more LEDs of the LED string is open. It is connected in line with the LED string wire without having to find the polarity of the output first, you can use DCA meter to test too but the meter may not show fast enough before the circuit goes into protection shutdown.
You will put this in one string at a time to find out which one does not light up the LED.
The diode string will get warm when 500mA (Power = 0.6V x 500mA) flows through the diode string.
One of the LED will light up if the string is not open.

Do you have a schematic for this jig? Looks interesting, but hard to see how it is wired up.
Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!
For service manual, schematic, boardview (board view), datasheet, cad - use our search.

It looks like two subcircuits in antiparallel:
Subcircuit is three 1N4001's in series, and a LED + resistor in parallel with the three 1N4001's. The 1N4001's will drop about 2.1V which is enough to light the LED when they're conducting. If you connect the other way, the antiparallel subcircuit will light.

I think I would just use a faster ammeter to tell if the circuit is open or not though...

I build this because lots of people here does not understand to how use meter in AMP mode when I told them to put meter in AMP mode, visual indicator is much easy to see if the LED even flashes on or not.

          M1 MacBook EFI/FMM unlock
          by Manlikeissak
Hello everyone hope you all are doing well, I'm posting here since no was interested in my post on "MacBook unlocked!" Topic, so In short I have found a way to test every possible key combination to try and find the combination to open the terminal on fmm/EFI locked M1/M2 machines, the person who found this still refuses to give info, but if hasn't lied about it being a key combination there's a chance we might find it, so to try Evey key combination I've got a digispark attiny 85 which is a small μController, I've written as script to emulate a keyboard and go thru every possible key...

Don't probe Samsung LED conector with LED tester, connect may not make contact afterwards
          by howardc64
Samsung have been using this style LED connector for few years now

Usually good idea to test the LEDs before opening the panel to change them. I do this without the PSU stil connected. With this connector (white one) have to jam the LED tester probes in the very narrow thin slot where the PSU blade style male prong inserts into. I've done this on many Samsungs without problem until today...

The female terminal inside the white connector has fragile fingers that grabs onto the male blades on the PSU's black connector. If the LED tester probe spreads open...

ENCONTRAR DATOS DMI EN EL CHIP BIOS IDEAPAD5 15ITL05 / FIND DMI DATA ON IDEAPAD5 15ITL05 BIOS CHIP
          by danielgerman681
Hi, Im trying to find the area on the chip that contains all of my laptops information, but I havent found it. The laptop won't turn on anymore. I was updating the BIOS, and it was supposed to reboot itself, but it wouldnt turn back on. I ve tried every possible solution, every alternative on Lenovo forums, everywhere; I ve taken it to technicians, and no one has been able to fix it. I've already read the chip that contains the BIOS (Winbond 25Q128JSVQ) and searched for my laptops data, but they're nowhere to be found. I only find scribbles and lines of text indicating errors. Has anyone had a...

Repairing the Hitachi DA-6000 CD player
          by nervous_capybara
          Hello everyone !

I recently conducted maintenance on a Hitachi DA-6000 CD player for my grandparents : it had two distinct issues.
Feel free to share your experience if you ran into other issues.

DISCLAIMER : BE VERY CAREFULL WHEN OPERATING ON THIS SYSTEM : THE HIGH VOLTAGE IS VERY CLOSE TO THE VARIOUS TESTING POINTS, PROCEED WITH CAUTION

CD tray would not come out of the player
I could hear a motor spinning inside the player but the CD tray would not come out.
Turned out that the issue was the CD tray belt that aged poorly and began to...
