Samsung Model LN52A550P3F only displays half a picture

Just joined this Forum a few days ago. Lot's of real good info and stuff here.
Here's my issue. I got this set from a friend.
This Samsung Model LN52A550P3F only displays half a picture. The left side is OK and the right side is black. Sometimes after a while, the right side picture will come back.
Looking for help and guidance on what the problem could be. I have a strong electronics background and know how to use meters, scopes, etc. Any and All help is appreciated.

May not be such a hi-tec repair. Picures of the back of the set so we can see the boards please. You are looking for the tcon. Remove the ribbon cables going to the panel and clean if necessary then reinsert.

Just looked at the pic. Looks like there is some vertical colour banding so maybe a tab bond issue or cof getting hot too.

I won't have access to the TV until the earliest Monday.

Similar issue..LN46A530 left side blank. Cleaned LVDS cable, connections and ribbon cable connections to driver boards. Problem changed to good Left side video that flickers to vertical lines and back to good video in 1/2 to 2 second intervals. Also, left side take 1 second longer to pop into view. Plan is to check voltages in and out of main and tcon. Any suggestions? Test points?

Update on LN46A530......Sorry for jumping the thread, but the problems almost alike........

Ok, must have have 3 issues :

First, the LVDS cable must have been dirty, I got improvement by cleaning with a small soft paint brush and acetone ONLY on the connector pins. Cleaned all the connections to and from the main board with the acetone.

Second, I had changed to ribbon cable also. and

Thirdly (is thirdly a word?) anyway, I put some insulating foam under frame on top of screen tab and 2 more double sided tapes in front and behind the little processor in the screen tab.

Wheew.... Solid Picture! Worked on it till four thirdly in the morning, but it was worth it. Thanks for the great posts and replies. Bravo Zulu and Best regards!
