    LG 42LF11-UA Horizontal Lines

Hey guys...I have a LG 42LF11-UA tv....On start up it has horizontal transparent lines (about 3inch thick) traveling up the screen. After about 20 min, the picture is perfect. I'm about to take the back cover off today...any guesses about what it could be? Bad cap? Power supply? I attached some pics of the start up lines. You can see it's a lighter color and its moving up.

After taking the back off, all the caps look decent. None of them are bulged or leaking. Any ideas???

      Do the lines move?
If you can connect a computer, can you try setting it to a different refresh rate, like 50Hz or 24Hz, and see if the lines behave differently? (Do they move or increase in size for example.)

yes the lines move- they travel up the screen. I am not aware of how I would connect I computer. The only cable I have is my vga to hook up to my mac.

Try changing refresh rate here on VGA:

just tried changing the refresh rate via vga cable and the refresh rate was not an option.

What resolution are you set to, if 1920x1080 you should have at least 50Hz & 60Hz...
Alternatively if using an Xbox via the composite or component video cable (rather than HDMI) you should be able to switch between 50Hz & 60Hz by selecting NTSC/PAL.

                I was 1280x800.

Xbox must no longer allow you to switch between NTSC and PAL because under my settings, it does not give me the option

This is a 1080p TV; why not use 1920x1080 (should be an option?) Anyway, it would be useful to see if these lines behave differently, because to me, I think it is some mains ripple (at 60Hz) interacting with your 60Hz TV. If the TV is switched to a 50Hz signal and the lines behave differently, then this will confirm this symptom. I have seen this before on a really old LCD TV.

1920x1080 is not an option...but what I did, and i'm not sure if this means anything..but i switched between 800x600 to 1280x1024 and I noticed a difference in the lines. In the 800x600 resolution, the transparent line moved up the screen VERY slowly in comparison to the 1280x1024 (which is the highest resolution option for some reason)

                      Hi guys

I just started fixing 4k TV few months ago. so I am still learning a lot
I got this tv from friend complaint is ghosting or horizontal lines on image.

never saw the original symptom but I took the tv back home. the funny part is that after bringing to home, the tv worked fine no issue for 3 weeks.
then it started to show the ghosting white image.
I started using the tape method, but this tv does not have a T con board and it has only 1 ribbon cable from main board to the tv panel.
it has 3 thin small boards at the bottom of the...

Sony XBR-65X750D Horizontal lines bottom of screen
                      by ggil44
Hi, I have a Sony XBR-65X750D that has horizontal lines at the bottom 6 inches of the screen. These lines appear to be every other line because the picture is still quite visible behind those lines. The lines appear all the time with a few other lines above and below the 6 inch level blinking on and off at about 2 second intervals. I'm not sure if this is a panel issue or power supply/main board problem. I did replace the T-Con board without any change in the problem. Any suggestions you might have would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,

Sony XBR-85X950G Gray horizontal lines and vertical picture shift diagnosis?
                      by noisykid
5.5 year old 85 inch Sony Bravia X950G started showing gray horizontal lines across the bottom of the screen and the picture shifts slightly vertically when it happens. The lines sometimes get bigger/smaller vertically and bounce back. See the video for the problem. It seems to be happening after it warms up after an hour or so. Happens regardless of source. Right now there's nothing but power cable connected and it's happening. We did hook up a new Nintendo Switch to our HDMI switching receiver today, and played for a while with no issues, but this problem didn't occur til a few hours later while...

I just acquired this 3D LED yesterday and it has horizontal lines on a little more than half of the screen. When I first turn it on it has thin black lines going across that makes the image look serrated, and then shortly after patterns of thicker red lines fade in. If I turn it off and right back on it will reset to just the black lines and the red will again fade onto the screen.

I initially thought tab bonds, but flexing the bezel makes no difference, and the fact the image sort of resets after cycling power is different. I haven't opened it up yet to actually test applying...
