    Magnavox 26MF605W/17 no channels

I just got this and it powers up fine, go to menu, go to channel search and it will not find any channels. TV set to tv, set to antena, tried auto search, nothing. Hooked same cable to another TV and it is sending signal.

Boards look good. No bulging caps, ESR on all caps on both boards good. Only solder joints that looked bad were connector that comes from PB to Main and I reflowed those. Will check voltages tomorrow.

Thought maybe someone has run into this before.

My Vizio 50" plasma did this. OTA DTV channels quit working, no reception would not find any channels. Turned out to be the tuner board went bad in my set. Replaced w/ known good one and it works again.

The tuner board in the Vizio was a separate board from main control board. Some are not.

My tuner is on the main board. Found one on ebay if it will work. Sent message to retailer to ask if it is a alternate for mine. want to see if I can replace componet instead of whole board. Thanks for your input.

MY tuner has a part #FQ1236/F H-5. The one on Ebay is #FQ1236/F V-3. Does anyone know if they are compatible? The Seller says he does not know. Thanks

Does this look like your board? If I read correctly tag on upper right corner has correct #'s.

Here is one in the US, did not see the first one is in Canada.

Not sure about replacing the parts at component level unless you are really good at soldering tiny parts.

Yes, that is my board but have already removed tuner from board and found one on Ebay for $4.99, but the suffix on part number is different. Think I will try anyway and maybe learn something. If it doesn't work, I will get a board.

My point is that the silver box is not the complete tuner circuit. Just one part.

There are memory chips, IC chips, caps, video processor, etc that can be bad causing no signal. Not just the cable connection box.

This is a pic of the Vizio tuner board from my tv showing all of the components it takes to make it work.

I see. Well, looks like board may be the only way to go. Thanks MagicSmoke.

                  Samsung PN51F8500AFXZA broke off the tuner's F connector, can't get tuner de-soldered
                  by DXseekerMO
I can hear Fred Sanford now...."YOU BIG DUMMY".....I pulled the "F" connector out of the tuner by accident. The tuner number is BN40-00248B. Low and behold I had a scrap board with tuner number BN40-00248A. Although the tuner is different (according to Encompass.com) it's footprint on the board is exactly the same as the 248B so I decided to de-solder the tuner off the scrap board to see what I was getting in to.

As you can see in the picture the terminals and solder pads are super small. No matter what I tried I could not get either the terminals or support...

Harmon Kardon AVR340 no sound on 4 channels
                  by r2digital
Hello, i had this amp sitting in the closet knowing that none of the channels were working. After taking it all apart i found 4 bulging main filter caps so i went ahead and replaced those with low ESR kmet caps. However after doing this it only restored sound to Surround L, Surround R, and Center channel. The main speaker fuse on the transformer F905/F906 keeps blowing so i decided to remove all of the transistor's on those 4 channels and measure them. All transistors appear to be in good working order(turned receiver on with none of them installed and fuse still blows). Checked dual emitter resistors...

Advice needed-Technika 32-207 works but sticks on channel, won’t change channels ok
                  by rustinjust
My tv will work for a while and change channels with the remote as it should but then it will stick on one channel only and work ok but it won't change channels. I have tried unplugging it for hours and whilst unplugged pressing the power button on the tv to reset it.

The volume button on the remote still works but it just won't change channels once it decides to stick on one channel

It has built in basic freeview tv here in the uk, I've tried doing an automatic search to reset the tv but nothing works.

I have to turn the tv off and then on again with...

Does Changing Out Caps In A Tuner Effect FM Reception
                  by Mark R
"TQ" Subject at hand is a Marantz 120 tuner. The tuner lit up but no output. Recapped the entire unit. Before it was working fine tuning in Stereo and Mono. Now it just about tunes Stereo and some of the mono stations are weak. Nothing else was changed. When you do hit a stereo station the stereo lamp will come on but flickers as it's trying to hold the MPX signal.

I don't see how bringing the unit back with new caps checked by my Sencore LC103 would effect the FM section. Every Value is as it was from the factory?

                  Any Thoughts?
