    Fortunately, shopjimmy.con has a corner on the market for these SS boards. I can live with another $38 if the TV comes back to life.
    Forget this previous post. It dawned on me that I didn't reconnect the ribbon cable for the SC board. I connected it and the TV came up. Then something popped on the SC board. I'm back to square one. I'm going to lift the leads on the new transistor to see if the same ones are bad again. There is a surface mount cap (C403) next to Q403 that may be suspect.

    I would be grateful for any input.

      I have almost the same situation with my 42S30. Yours maybe have some additional igbts, but they are pretty similar. Ebay kits suggest that you try replace IC502 and Q531 (if fitted on yours), altough that didn't help me, but worth to try.

        Both of those appear to be fine based on an ohm test.

          Re: Panasonic Viera TP-P50S30 Funky Picture Issue

          I need to run something by tw and tom.

          Now that I'm back to square 1; I need to know if I'm over thinking this.

          TV on - solid red power LED
          Hold power switch for 5 seconds - 14 SOS blinks.

          Following the troubleshooting guide I have pointed be towards the A board, but I decided to look further than that. I did all the Vsus, Vda, and +15v tests, too. That's how I discovered the SC board was shorted. Vda and +15v were good. My thinking was the SC was the root of the issue.

          Now when I installed the wrong SC I got a funky picture, but everything seemed to be operating.

          And finally, with the OE board with new transistor in; pop and back to where I started. Did I error and the problem is both the SC and the A board?

          What would my next move be? Replace the transistors again and do the isolation test to see if it powers up not connected to the A board?

            Re: Panasonic Viera TP-P50S30 Funky Picture Issue

            Here's the latest. Checked the board and found 4 transistors bad. I suspect the 4th one didn't blow the last time, but was on the verge. All it needed was power to pop it and take out the other 3.

            I replaced all 4 and found all the resistors, caps, and the diodes to be good. I installed and powered up the TV and the SC board is up and running. Sadly, the picture is worse than when the wrong board was in it.

            Any ideas on this? (and yes, I found the stand!)

                Could you connect a source to the TV that is 100% white (i.e. open MS Paint on a computer, fill image with white, fullscreen.) So we can see what it looks like?

                      STUPID...STUPID...STUPID...

                      It turns out I can add one more stupid move by me to this long tail. I hope it helps someone else out.

                      I was just starting on the SU/SD/SC low resistance test to see if one of them was failing by other than a dead short. That's when I realized I had clipped a lead on R515 to get it out of the way when I was originally checking the IGBTs right next to it. I soldered it back into place and powered up the TV. I got picture!

                      I then proceeded to kick myself!

                      Thanks for everybody's help.

                        Excellent! What's the picture quality like on these panels? Black level, brightness, etc.? I've only ever done PZ80s (2008 models) so haven't seen one of these yet. I've done a Kuro 9G, though.

                          Blacks are black, colors true, but like most plasmas I've seen, not bright like LED. I think my Samsung plasma has a slightly better picture.

                          Thanks again for your help.

                            When I fixed the one i had here,I hooked it up to a blue ray player,ran avatar on it,I have yet to see a better picture,it blew me away!!!! Indeed not as bright as LCD(which is not natural in my opinion) but so purely natural and a incredible depth in the screen(black levels are unreal).I tweaked the settings in the menu a bit (out of store they come ridiculously over colored etc) and WOW,beautiful pic....
                            I dare to go as far as saying it's better then a PZ80 lol (dont kill me Tom,lol)

                            Congrats Prop1 for the repair job!! You went from wanting to throw this "pos" in the landfill to fixing it,thumbs up !!!!

                                After spending a total of $76 on the wrong board from shopjimmy; I got a refund of $38. So, less the return shipping, it means they gave me a full refund of the board.

                                  im having the same issue of a solid red light with a 14 blink sos after holding the power for 5 sec, so in a nut shell what should i do to get your results? im alittle confused with everything in this thread, can you give a summary of how you got the tv to work?

                                    I used this guide to check voltages: https://cdn.badcaps-static.com/pdfs/...a0a6bb5647.pdf

                                    That's how I found the SC board was shorted. The transistors as posted were shorted.

                                    If you look beyond my mistakes; it was an easy fix.

                                        Bought wrong SC board.
                                        Replaced only 3 of 4 transistors.
                                        Forgot I clipped a resistor lead while testing.

                                        Based on your posts; you may not have the knowledge to do this repair.

                                          i can do this repair im just making sure i do it right the first time and not waste money, im trying to get this tv working for the least amount of money,

                                          mine is now trying to turn on but shuts right back off, the red led comes on then i hear two clicks one right after another then the light goes off and 15 sec later i hear one more click

                                          i tested the 15v areas on the board and i posted all of my results on my thread but ill copy and paste them here to see what you think,

                                          ok so i just checked P11 on 20DVC it reads 0.00 untill i press the power button and then it jumps between (depending on how many times i click and if i hold the power button) 1.16-6.50v and after that it will settle at 1.00 untill the 3rd click after 15 sec anf it will slowly decrease to 0.00

                                          i tested the SN2 on a 200k and 20k ohm and its showing a short 0.00

                                          just tested P6 and from top to bottom i get (on a 20DCV)
                                          15Vs= 1.16-6.50 (same as P11) untill the relays click then it goes to 0.00
                                          GND= good
                                          15Vc= 1.16-6.50 same as above fades after last click
                                          GND= good
                                          F15V= 15.74 fades after the last click to 0.00
                                          F15V= 15.75 fades after the last click to 0.00
                                          GND= good
                                          GND= good
                                          F-STBY-on= 2.95 jumps down to 0.00 after last click
                                          STBY5V= 4.96 untill i click power then drops to 4.29 then back up to 4.96
                                          STBY5V-ON= 0.02 I click power it jumps to 1.01 then back to 0.02
                                          SOS4-PS= 0.00 to 0.17 after power button click
                                          SO= 0.00 no change at all
                                          S1= 0.00 no change at all
                                          1= 3.01 with first relay click after the second it drops to 0.00 after the last click 0.00

                                          All of this testing was done on a 20DVC scale

                                          these tests were done with a 2ok ohm setting

                                          ss11= open no short
                                          p11= 8.50-8.51 after 30 sec of connection
                                          SN2= 0.00 shorted
                                          P2= 0.00 shorted (damn)
                                          P9= not shorted open

                                          P35 this will be tested from left to right numbered from 1-4 and tested on a 20DCV scale

                                          1= 4.47v untill final click then 0.00
                                          2= 0.00 shorted
                                          3= 2.89 drops to 0.95 and hold untill final click then 0.00
                                          4= 3.79 drops to 0.95 and hold untill final click then 0.00

                                          now ill test p35 on a 20k ohm scale
                                          1= 0.00 untill i push power then goes to 0.02 then after last click 0.00
                                          2= open no short no change
                                          3= had to switch to a 200k scale maxxed out the 20k) 22.5 after 1 min on 200k ohm
                                          4= 21.9 on 200k ohm after 30 sec

                                          so what does all this mean? ive tested about everything i can i even tested to see if all of the cables in between the boards were shorted and found none that were
