    Panasonic TX-P42U30B Service Manual

    Hi Guys,

Does anyone have a copy of the service manual for the Panasonic TX-P42U30B please.

Have one that is giving me the green light flashing around 5-6 times, tried A board still the same

    Kind regards
    Andy

So what is it's normal sequence? Is it red standby, green flashing on startup , locked green when running, blinking red when faulted and fault codes being flashed out?

Green light flashing 5-6 times, then what?

Hi sorry for the delay in replying, If you press the power switch on the side of the set you hear a relay click and then the green light flashes 6 time and then you hear a relay click and thats it, if you press power button again it just does the same, I have tried a new A board as per Tom66 suggestion.

No red flashing light? Could be shorted S/C board I suppose.

Sorry meant SC board. It's the one with the buffer ICs on it. L/H side of plasma panel looking from the back.

OK Tom66, Thank you is there a way to test the SC PCB? or anything I can do to prove it is at fault, only I ordered the A PCB and I cant return it so need to keep costs down.

Try testing all of the transistors on it for short circuits.

I'd definitely be checking the SN2 connector for short cct or disconnect SN2 and see if you actually get a normal fault blink.

Very commmon issue with this generation blowing SC and SC2 short, quite a few have self repaired so might not be too hard.

Not 100% sure if the SN has the same issue but most likely.

It's the same issue with SN board.

You will probably find short on SN2 connector.
                    Check Q401, Q402, Q421, Q422 for shorts.

L/H side of plasma panel, same place as SC. It will be marked SN.

                          Hi Guys,

I have tested the four Q401, Q402, Q421, Q422 for shorts and they are all S/C. I removed the connector from the top of the PSU that connects into the SN PCB and there is a short across that as well.

Is it a simple as de soldering Q401, Q402, Q421, Q422 and checking out of circuit for which one is S/C and replacing, or is it just a case of replacing the PCB due to a complex fault with many components?

Is the SN PCB the same as the SN2? I'm just a little confused as some have said about a SN PCB, some say about a SN2 and SC2?

Someone mentioned about "blowing SC and SC2 short" is that something else I need to check?

Just want to check there is no other PCB I am checking, the one I have been testing is on the far left as you look at the rear of the TV.

Is it a simple as de soldering Q401, Q402, Q421, Q422 and checking out of circuit for which one is S/C and replacing, or is it just a case of replacing the PCB due to a complex fault with many components?

Thank you for your help, would be great to get this finally fixed so I can use it

Thank you for the info but it does not answer the question, I have seen a few on ebay members who do a re-furb service for this PCB around £90.00. Is it worth just doing that or as I did ask it is generally as simple as replacing the few components that have been listed about as being S/C?

From memory, it's something like 7 surface mount transistors (big ones) so really quite easy but does require a hot air gun and steady hands.

                                      Re: Panasonic TX-P42U30B Service Manual

I have one much the same. I found that 5 IGBT's are short, and probably the driver transistors/chips too. These series Panasonics Really ARE UTTER CRAP, IMHO!

There's kits on fleagay, but sadly--They Don't all contain All the parts needed, for All Cases.

Some only have four IGBT's and some SM resistors, while others contain some diodes and 1 driver-chip and 1 dual-transistor.

Most kits do not have the DG302 ERC IGBT's that can also fail--as in my case.

Therefore, Ive had to order a 15 piece kit at £35 plus additional components, the two DG302 ERC IGBT's--and at a fiver each its getting expensive just in parts.....
(Even though only oneDG302 short--they work together to provide the ERC, so only good sense to replace the pair).

--Could do with a couple of additional driver chips, but we'll see when I get back to it, Although looks cheaper to buy an SS Board and rob it for the additional parts, such is the individual price of 'em, from the likes of GTV!....

                                        Hi Everyone,

Just to update you I found a guy in Northern Ireland and he has carried out a full repair for £65.00 including postage back to me in the UK, he even tests the PCB in a set to make sure it is working OK.

Well worth the money as the kits I had seen were £35.00 ish, at least this way it is fully repaired and tested.

Will update you all once it arrives back.
