    Toshiba 32BV702B - PSU - 17PW25-4 - V1 - 250111 - 23023197 Opinion Needed

    Hi All on Badcaps,

After Many Weeks of searching I finally found a PSU for My Toshiba 32BV702B

    Toshiba 32BV702B - PSU - 17PW25-4 - V1 - 250111 - 23023197

100% Match, Delivered next day, (Not eBay I must add)

Purchased from an on line used TV parts seller, with a good rating.

Imagine my dismay!!! when I unpacked the PSU expecting to get my TV back up and working and found this before I even thought about fitting it.

1st pic Mine Top, 2nd pic Replacement Top , 3rd Pic Mine underneath, 4th pic Replacement Underneath.

    Sorry about that.

I have added some pictures top and bottom of both mine and the (TESTED WORKING) PSU that I have just Purchased.

R977 has a slight scorch mark underneath, not very visible in the picture.

BUT WHY HAS THE GUY PAINTED THE R974!!!

IS IT A MAGICAL PAINT THAT REPAIRS FAULTY ELECTRONICS!!!

    Opinions needed Please.

1st Pic Mine Top, 2nd Pic Replacement Top, 3rd Pic Mine Underneath, 4th Pic Replacement Underneath.

I think your part numbers are incorrect if you go in and edit it now I will change this post
You say R974 is painted should it be 904
Please upload pictures using attachment function when ask for help on the repair

R977 still shows as 0.39 Ohms + test leads' resistance? Notes that R977 (0.39 Ohms) and 974 (0.33 Ohms) are connected in parallel.

Location R974 is painted, blown and fitted backwards it appears to me, but this is not a test, I am just wondering how someone could supply this board as tested working? and hope to get away with it

            Thanks for that Budm

I just purchased the board as a replacement for a blown one, but as soon as I saw it, it looked bad to me.

I am not good enough to repair boards just replace but this was so glaringly wrong :/

Ok Didnt understand what you were saying and couldnt expand the pictures I now see what you are saying. I suppose the question might be, does the board work? if so it could well have been tested and working. Only the seller will be able to say why the resistor is painted though if the board works they may not even have looked at it. What does it measure?

well back to the seller then? - just one thing are you sure the board was the same version. The writing above where it says VESTEL is missing on the new one?
Are you sure we cant help try to fix the old one? I see one of the resistors 977 has a
hole in it are there other problem areas?

The back of the board has an IC Blown apart on the original and if you look at the replacement enlarged one of the jumpers appears to be blown also.
                      Thanks anyway though

Perhaps if you can read the part number off the IC on the new board and post it
it will be a help for others if theirs blows in future.

When you click on the thumbnails, navigate to the picture you want to look at then click on the picture it should open a Full Screen 5 Mb clarity picture.

The IC details are obliterated, whether this is due to cleaning of the residue from the failure or over temp during the failure of the PSU I am not sure.

Hmm--They Always look like that, because they are crap vestel PSU's!

The chip that lost its head looks to be the PFC controller, probably both the PFC MOSFET and the main chopper MOSFET are both stuffed along with the chopper controller chip...

These PSU's are available new for about £40, no point in buying S/H!
