Pioneer PDP-R06U Trap Reset. Please help

    Hello everyone.
I am pretty new in TVs and Receivers but I am a computer engineer.
I recently got the non working Pioneer 50" plasma PDP-506PU with the receiver PDP-R06U.
I connected them together and hoocked the HDMI port. The TV wasn't show anything. The receiver was reacting on remote. It was switching between standby and On.
I opened the back panel and got very dusty boards inside. I did vacuum cleaning and, just to make sure it is working before I put everything back, turned it on.
Of course the Trap Switch fired and now my receiver has all LED powered: On, standby and timer. as far as I understand the trap state has been stored somewhere on the Flash and needs to be reset before continuing.

I read many manuals and service manuals they all says to reset it you need to enter factory mode: use your remote control and to "Display", wait for 3-7 seconds, then < ^ < > and Power.
It does not work. I have tried to use remote control with the receiver and tv. they do not show any reaction. I have tried to connect it with COM port (RS-232) but service manual says that by default the SR port is working while RS-232 is down. Manual says that I can switch it in factory mode somwhere in menu but I cannot do that because my receiver is locked.

Who knows anything about this reciever and how to fix this stuff.
Any comment will be highly appreciated.
    Thanks everyone. Alex

Re: Pioneer PDP-R06U Trap Reset. Please help

I am having the same problem. The unit just blinks red / blue(standby/on). I can not get the menu to display. I have hooked both receiver and plasma to same power strip and recycled the power but get the same result. I tried to hook up the DVI wire straight to a computer and got nothing. But when I hook it up to the receiver I at least get to blinking square images red/blue while the receiver is indicators are blinking re/blue unison..

      Pioneer VSX-44 receiver HDMI dropouts
      by RatherLoopy
I have an older Pioneer receiver (VSX-44) that's been dropping the HDMI output (black screen) for a few seconds every few minutes. Setup is HTPC -> Pioneer DVD HCMI in -> Pioneer HDMI out -> Samsung TV HDMI in, all with cheap HDMI cables that have never caused trouble before..

I initially found a lot of play in the receiver's HDMI inputs and output so I kind of squeezed them back into shape and they're making a tighter connection, but the problem persists.

And also, often, the HDMI will drop out in exactly the same way (black screen) just as my central air...

Pioneer VSX-1123 Receiver - weird voltage problem
      by pulper111
Hello. My receiver "seems" to be working fine. It functions as it should. the receiver is the Pioneer vsx-1123. However, while doing some work in the house, I noticed that my HDMI cable from the receiver was registering as "hot" using my fluke non-contact voltage tester.

I've done some troubleshooting to try to narrow down the problem, and all wires (speaker/hdmi/subwoofer) coming from the receiver, whether it's powered on or stand-by, register as "hot". none of my other receivers are experiencing this issue, so it doesn't seem to be an issue with...

Pioneer VSX-3300 Receiver Wont Power On
      by thetonywarren
Have a colleagues Pioneer VSX-3300, it wont power on, hasnt for a number of years, but just now trying to figure out what's going on with it.

It has 120V input and I have followed that 120V to a small board that appears to have a small transformer and a relay among a few other components I dont think the relay is changing state which I believe turns on the receiver, but this is all speculation.....

I have downloaded the repair guide, which I have attached to this post, but I am having a hard time following it.... Can someone please offer any advice on what to check?...

Sony OLED XR-77A80J - 5 Flashes But Turn On After Hard Reset
      by odie34
I am a hobbyist (not a professional) so please be gentle...

I recently received an XR-77A80J that wouldn't turn on. (Repeating 5 flashes when plugged in.)

I did a hard reset by holding the power button for about 30 seconds until the set powered down. I then tried to turn it on and it powered up, bringing me to the setup screen. There's not a lot of detail on the setup screen but the picture didn't have any distortions, so at least a cursory examination suggests no physical damage to the screen. The set appeared to be working normally, but it shut down after about 15 seconds,...
