Need more help with Zenith 32LC2DA-UE.AUSUZBM

    Hello,

I previously replaced a cap on the PSU in this unit. From the time I did that, it worked, albeit with a bit of a whine that I was never able to solve.

Now, the unit has failed again.

I still get the same whine when I plug it in. I get a flashing front panel light and a relay click. If I press the power button, the front panel light goes solid, but, I get no backlight. Other than this, none of the buttons work. Menu, Channel, Volume, Etc. Even Power to turn it back off.

I found a PSU for $59 but, unless I can pretty much isolate this as being the issue I am not up for spending more $$ for this unit. And I am not the most wonderful at soldering, so re-capping the whole PSU would be a daunting task. 1 cap is 1 thing. 20 is a whole other ballgame!

    Please find photos attached.

    Thanks.

Check the 3.4V output on the PSU. Is it measuring about 3.4V? Common failure on these PSUs.

Hello. I thought I posted my answer to this, but, I guess it didn't take.

I had to unplug the connector to measure the voltage, if this does not taint the results, I am reading 1.64 volts on all the 3.4V pins.

Is there a specific component or set I can replace, or is this $59 board a good option?

        Thanks.

You should be able to do it with the connector installed, there is a small piece of metal ring around the component pin whcih you can touch.

Repair of an LG split AC system indoor unit PCB
            by ngml
I am trying to repair an LG split AC indoor unit, which does not start and gives a CH05 error code.
This indicates an error in the communication between the outdoor and the indoor unit.
The outdoor unit is fine, so the problem is the indoor PCB.
The indoor unit is an LG PC09SQ NSJ (3SNM09JA2FA), and the PCB has the following type number: EAX35907219-1.2 (see photo1)
I changed optocouplers ICO1X & ICO2X and the NPN transistor S9013 which drives optocoupler ICO2X (see photo2), but this did not remedy the fault.

Does anybody have the schematics of this board,...

            Repair Success! Middle Atlantic UPS2200R-IP
            by valvashon
Yesterday I successfully repaired a Middle Atlantic UPS2200R-IP that had inadvertently been used as a surge suppressor at our transmitter site. It has already been replaced with an updated one but it's coming home with me now instead of being e-cycled. To be specific, this is the MA model that has the blue backlit display and has been discontinued, although this design may have been used in many UPS units including the smaller Middle Atlantic ones in this series.

Here's what happened: We experienced a brownout/surge at the site, which damaged the UPS and took our broadcasting...

Bose Companion 5 - Unit Powers On then Cuts Off Shortly After
            by nobbnobb1
            Hi guys,

Trying to salvage a Bose Companion 5 computer speaker system that powers off shortly after powering on. It's got a primary USB input (built in DAC) and an aux 3.5mm input. The USB appears to be the primarily source that tells the unit to power on (control pod LED goes green) as the unit has no power switch.

When I first connect power to the unit, plug in the USB, it will play audio nicely for a minute before it drops out and the unit appears to go into standby (control pod LED goes red). It stays in standby and I cannot seem to power it back on without physically...

ADP-160FR ps4 slim PSU, shuts down under load and has severe coil whine.
            by Gjackson
Hi all, the PSU originally had a no 12v issue where as soon as I bridged the 5v standby to the ACDC_stby the psu would switch itself off completely. I monitored the voltage on the main filter caps while doing this and saw that the PFC was bringing the voltage up to around 360vdc before shutting down. Given that I saw that as a little low I replaced the PFC feedback resistors from a donor PSU and that got it to power on, without a load no coil whine is present and there is a stable 12v however as soon as I put it in the PS4 it starts whining really badly, however 12v remains stable but after a...

Air-conditioning unit power supply failing to power up
            by Gjackson
Hi all, I managed to narrow down which PCB was causing my Haier AC to throw out an E7 error code (E7 indicates that the indoor unit and outdoor unit cannot communicate). I found that the outdoor unit power board which gives 5v and 15v to the outdoor unit module board fails to fully power up.. The power Led starts to fade in incredibly slowly and the 5v and 15v power buses jump around like crazy and never reach their required voltage. I unplugged the module board from the power board and the power board powered up fine! It had a steady 5v and 15v out and the power LED came on instantly and Bright....
