Re: LG 60PS80 cable is I op

Since Panny is out of the plasma game now, umm... LG. You probably don't like that answer but I certainly wouldn't buy any Samsung plasma unless I got an extended warranty. Maybe if you can get a 55"~60" ex-stock Panasonic 50 or 60 series?

Whatever you do avoid Samsung LED TV. Too many young display panels dying. You think $400 is expensive for a part, wait till you have to get new $1,000 display panel.

Sharp LED TVs are pretty decent if you're set on LED TV. Sharp use their own glass and the panels very rarely fail. Vizio aren't that bad, lots of main board issues though and they use LG and Sharp panels mostly. (LG panels are pretty good overall, Sharp are the 2nd best in the industry for overall display performance.)

Avoid absolutely: Toshiba, JVC, Hitachi, Sanyo and all in-store brands, they are re-badged junk... fit for certain purposes but not as a 60" living room telly.

Costco do a 5 year warranty for something like $60 all in, if you have a membership and a store nearby.

It's really hard to say, because build quality of TVs has plummeted what with the price slashing around LED TVs, manufacturers spending more bucks on Smart features and less on the necessary electronics and panel, and Panasonic giving up on making plasmas, there's hardly any good manufacturers left.

      Cable Repair
      by Patch2
I have a broken connector (believe it's a 6 pin mini-DIN) on a cable. The metal shroud and all but one of the pins are separated from the cable, and just stuck together for the photo. The other end is an unknown rectangular connector. The cable is for the foot pedals on an Italian made electronic piano, and the company is out of business. Looking for ideas on how to fix it. I have a soldering iron, but I'm not very skilled at soldering, so getting a retrofit for the broken end may be beyond my ability. The other end would be easier to replace, if I could get a mini-DIN cable with the same number...

KDL-60EX500. Comes on fine, sound is fine, backlights come on. Blank screen. Already tried reset POWER/VOL-. Anyone else have this problem? Possibly bad T-Con RUNTK4244ZZ or panel? Could main or power supply cause this? There were 2 blown 560u 35v on power going to backlights but they were still working fine. Thanks for your help.

Dell ATX PSU won’t start, but forcing it works fine?
      by CapLeaker
Got a case of something new weird at work. There is an old 2nd gen Intel i3 in an old “Pizza box” shell that has a small form factor power supply. Unfortunately I forgot to take pictures and model number off it.

Anyway, I get to work and get to look at this computer. Standby LED on the PSU is on, but the computer won't start. Hmm o.k. take the battery out of the main board try again, nothing. O.k. then… unplug the power supply from the main board and put in a full size ATX PSU (yeeeesss! Exact that blown Powerman IP that I fixed a while back), plug it in and the old...

      by conghuyms
      Hi everyone,

My 30-pin eDP cable from the mainboard to the LCD screen got cut and damaged at the screen connector side. I found another cable and took the screen-side connector from it, but the wire colors are different. So I really need the wiring diagram for both ends of the eDP cable to solder it back properly. If anyone has the diagram, please kindly help me out. Thanks a lot...

RTX3090 working fine but fans not spinning
      by emil_t
Hello guys. I have a problem with a PNY XLR8 GAMING RTX3090 graphics card. The problem is that it displays and works fine, but the fans don't spin at all. The problem occurred when someone else removed the fans in order to clean it and broke one of the fan connectors. He replaced it himself and after that, it wasn't working anymore. I guess he damaged something else in the process. What i have done so far: I found 2 capacitors next to the connector that were in a bad shape, he must have touched them with his tools - they weren't shorted, but i replaced them with similar ones from a similar card....
