    Sylvania LD195SSX flashes colors

this TV has a built in DVD player. when i plug it in, it turns on by itself and then goes through an endless loop of color screens. first its an all black screen with white text that says DIGITAL TELEVISION. then its a screen of just Green, RED, BLUE, etc. none of the buttons do anything. i have to unplug it to turn it off. what could be causing this behavior???

i took it apart and unplugged the DVD drive from the mainboard. now when i plug it in, it turns on by itself and then goes through 3 screens (digital television, RED, GREEN) then goes into standby mode. the DVD light is lit up.
pressing power only gets me those 3 screens again and back to standby. none of the buttons do anything during the screens.

i uploaded some videos to youtube of what it's doing

    Re: Sylvania LD195SSX flashes colors

I'm going to say first it sounds like a mainboard issue. U can usually start around there since the tv turns on by itself when you plug it in. But first check all of your voltages on your power supply to make sure ur power supply is working correctly first.

Sounds like it's in factory/test mode.

yea, i'd like to know what causes that so i can make it do it when i want it!
        a usefull feature!

maybe the button-panel has a problem.
unplug the button panel & plug the tv in.

A lot of Vestels I know have a BURN IN MODE which does this, I've never been brave enough to turn it on incase it's a bugger to turn off again!

dang the button board does not have removable connectors, the ribbon cable is soldered on each end... WHY?! is there any special trick to disable this button board without de-soldering?

well it was a pain but i desoldered the button board. it seems to have had some effect on the situation. it still went through the test screens but now its going thru all the channels (doing an auto preset thing) it will show channel 24 on the screen then the screen will flash red for a moment and then it will show 25 and then a red flash...and so on.. also the DVD drive keeps making noise like its trying to work or something....

hmm but now its just doing this endlessly... it checks out all the channels, then the component, HDMI, VGA connections...and then just starts over with the channels again!

Holy cow! it WAS the button board. after soldering it back in, everything works fine now! i guess there were some junk solder points or maybe 2 wires were touching or something and it was causing it to behave crazy...thanks for the tip, i dont think i would have gone as far if u hadnt suggested it!

Issues with new Surface Pro 5 screens
                          by diamon
I have three Microsoft Surface Pro 5 model 1796, with all cracked screens.
Have bought from Aliexpress three new screens, the part numbers from my and the seller are the same:

Bad working China screen part number:

Good working own screen part number

Error I get with the bad working China screen:

No error with the good working own screen:

All the three China screens (all the same exact part numbers) produce the same error in Device manager. Have also performed a clean installation...

Sony OLED XR-77A80J - 5 Flashes But Turn On After Hard Reset
                          by odie34
I am a hobbyist (not a professional) so please be gentle...

I recently received an XR-77A80J that wouldn't turn on. (Repeating 5 flashes when plugged in.)

I did a hard reset by holding the power button for about 30 seconds until the set powered down. I then tried to turn it on and it powered up, bringing me to the setup screen. There's not a lot of detail on the setup screen but the picture didn't have any distortions, so at least a cursory examination suggests no physical damage to the screen. The set appeared to be working normally, but it shut down after about 15 seconds,...

Insignia NS-LCD019-09 issue: Power light turns blue for 3 seconds, the flashes red before going solid read again
                          by cajoeg
Hello, I'm new to the group and to trying to repair a LCD TV. During the past few years, I've been collecting/repairing/restoring vintage personal computers (Commodore, Apple II, Atari, TRS-80, Texas Instruments, and Timex Sinclair). This has been my retirement hobby. Now I've gotten interested in trying to repair a LCD TV that I have and used regularly when working on vintage computers.

The LCD I'm working on is a Insignia NS-LCD019. I've downloaded the service manual that I could find, but it must be a different revision since not too many items in the service manual match the TV...

Philips 70PUS7855/12 bad colors when applying the tape fix on teh T-con board
                          by silikon77
                          Hi!
Got an 70 inch Philips tv model 70pus7855/12 from scraps and I decidet to give it a go. I'm an enthusiast but no porfessional in the electronics.
Found some advices watching youtube nad came up with this:
It came with no picture, after diagnosing it I found out that the right side of the T.con board was faulty.
I taped down the clock signals and I got a picture but the left side of the panel has less pronounced colours. Only the right 3rd side of the panel has good colors.
                          See attached picture.

I tried a few combinations to block individual clock...

Hp x360 15-u499nr power light flashes continuously.
                          by CraigR
I have an Hp x360 15-u499nr laptop with a continuous white blinking power light. The laptop does turn on. The light flashes with just the battery and if I disconnect the battery and just use the power cord it still flashes and with both connected it still does. I have updated the bios and tried a hard reset with battery unplugged and power cord unplugged and holding down the power button for 60 seconds. I can't think of what else to try.
