Hannspree JT02-37U1-000G Hard to power up

I have a Hannspree JT02-37U1-000G waiting for me to buy for $25.00 USD. The guy said it takes 10 - 20 tries to power on . I am thinking psu caps. My problem right now is that I have never heard of Hannspree. Parts for this are far and few in between. Is it worth $25.00 or should I move on to a different maker?
    Thanks for any advice.

No idea but you could always resell it if you can't get it working

It's an off brand, but that isn't always bad! For $25 I would go for it as it's probably bad caps in the power supply. When you take the back off you will probably find one or more bad caps Bulged on top. Replace all the caps on the "cold side" Usually 10-35V with the same (or higher voltage if they will fit) Panasonic FM or FC seris caps you can get at Digikey. I fixed my LG with the same symptom and a couple others that way.

Well I bought the TV and it was caps . (2) (1500uf-- 16v) , and (1) --(220uf--35v) I replaced them with Panasonic FC series , and the set powered right up. No brain work involved. I did apply heat sink paste to the heat sink covers that screw on. Don't know if that will help transfer heat to the covers better, but won't hurt. This set is built like a pizza oven not much ventilation . Some pics of the set and boards.

Just to be safe, I would replace ALL the caps on that side of the board.

I tend to replace most--if not all the caps on a lot of PSU's Especially the little 1-47uF ones on the HOT/Primary side--the start-up type caps, only cheap and easy with it all apart.

Some of these sets run just so hot, its no surprise they pop off with bulgers and dried out caps....

I did a Bush/Polaroid/Whatever-make set yesterday, with a well dried out main smoothing cap--the 150uF 450V--don't often see those dried out, didn't have a 150uF so it got a 220uF 450v instead, plus a couple of small ones....

I suspect the set is used from a generator--It belongs to some Travellers....

I used what I had on hand, but I ordered all the caps on that board. I will change them out when they arrive. Will take more pictures of the NASA HEAT shield that covers the boards when finished.
