not for a working tv, when they go faint, usually the TV has shutdown and the voltage bleeds off.

Any ideas what to check to see if it's getting voltage to the right places?

Pity, was hoping she'd still fire up. Only thing i can think of is to see if the SC board on its own is triggering SOS7.

I've taken this out of a HD 2008 guide.page 15. Should still be able to be applied to this as I see no SC50 jumper connector the later boards have 2009 on to do the same test.

              Disconnect connectors SC41/SU41, SC42/SD42, SC46/SD46,

jumper between “VF Ground” (labeled H.V. DANGER) on the SU board or SD board and coil L801 on the SC board,

Power on and see if SOS7 or normal startup with no SOS

Hmm time to re-start this thread, Not done anything with the TV since last year and managed to get a working&tested SC board for £8 hopefully should clear the fault,

Interesting skit, from an Aussie forum too.

getting your fair share of fun from this one it seems.

Looks like I've dropped a clanger and ordered the SC board for the TH-42PZ80B instead of the TH-42PZ80BA the correct board I should have ordered was the TNP A4657 instead I've got the TNP A4410 both look very similar and have the same mounting positions/pins and cable/ribbon connections would gthis work or not worth the gamble?

I believe they're compatible - one is a cost-down version of the other.

Cheers will give it a go, As I've now wired it back up without trying the new board the TV comes on to a red light then will power up using the remote but screen is black/no picture green light blinks very rapidly when you use the remote

Runs between A & D boards, it's a red one, multi wires very thin and delicate.

Check white ribbon to SC & power to SC are properly connected. 6 blinks is SOS6 (SC Energy Recovery) and could be bad SC board. Does LED on SC glow?

Finally swapped over the SC board for another which I'd picked up now the problem is the green light blinks loads then comes on but TV won't power up/fans dont kick in any ideas?

                                            by Lintesir
My parents' Panasonic P42S30 died recently, and they asked me to have a look at it. I was able to identify the SN-board as the culprit, as it was shorted. After removing Q401, Q402, Q421 and Q422 the short was gone, so I replaced these components and that got the TV working again. However, when testing the tv a bit, I noticed quite bad pinkish sparkles on some colors. For instance the greyish bar on this forum seems to trigger it quite badly. I made a fullscreen test picture with only that color, with the below result.

There is about a 5cm high region at the top without any sparkles,...

                                            by Alicat
                                            Hello,

Stopped by this site trying to fix my parents Panasonic Plasma TV.

                                            Model number is TH-50PZ85U

Power comes on and the red power light stays on solid.

Did a few checks like hold the power button on for 60 seconds, hold the - Volume while holding the menu button, no luck, still@ blank grey screen as the screen lights up very vague.

I also hear a few clicks.

I also think my parents said there was a thunderstorm and the TV failed after that.

Section 6 in the service manual talks about power and no screen,...

Panasonic Plasma screen interference on left half of screen
                                            by Zelek11
My Panasonic Plasma model P55VT50 has started displaying "interference" on just the left half of the screen only (left when facing the screen). Sometimes it's concentrated in about the first 30 seconds after startup, then disappears. Other times it's fine at startup and then randomly does it later on. When it flashes the interference it's very quick and doesn't stay on the screen unless it flashes repeatedly in a row.

This image is a screen shot from a video I took. This is an example of the interference at its worst. Often the interference is much smaller...

                                            hello,
I hope someone on this forum can assist me.
                                            I have a panasonic TH-42PC77U plasma television.
the lower 1/2 of the screen has become flaky....in and out, then finally goes black and you can only see the top portion.
i have performed the reset to default settings quite a few times. Panasonic recommended..did not believe this would help...it didn't.
I have removed the back panel and looked around for something obvious...burn marks in a board, etc....nothing obvious...
I have read some posts that suggest the problem is related to the boards on the left...

Hello everybody! Posting this in hopes somebody has some expertise that leads to a clear path of troubleshooting that saves me a lot of time!

My macbook has the flex cable problem, the one that prevents the screen turning on. Ive been dealing with this for the last 3 years. Last year it went dead and I managed to fix it following youtube tutorials. But my fix wasnt the best, the problem returned a month later. This week, it went dead again. I again tried to fix it.

This time the original cable broke too close to the screen, it can't be fixed without tearing the screen...
