LG 50PS8000 zsus board and possible plasma panel problem

    Hi everyone,

I'm currently in a little dilemma with my LG 50PS8000 plasma.

I have identified the problem is with my zsus board. I replace it with a used board and it worked perfectly for 2 weeks then failed. The part was under warranty and I am getting a refund which was good.

I spoke to the guy at the shop who told me the plasma panel causes the zsus board to fail. He said something to do with the increasing resistance in the panel, through usage, causes the problem with neighbour circuit boards. Can anyone shed some light on that matter?

So if the panel is causing the problem then there is no point of repair/replace the zsus board as the panel will just damaging the circuit boards. On the other hand, if the panel is not the issue then it could just be the used zsus board I got was on its last leg. Now, the question would be is it better to buy a brand new circuit board £110+ or get my faulty board repaired £60?

    Any help will be appreciated.

This is mostly untrue for these LG panels. It is extremely rare for it to occur. Whilst it's possible, it's much more likely the part simply failed (it is a used part, so it's already had many hours driven out of it.)

Thanks for the reply Tom, much appreciated.

Any advice on whether I should just get a brand new board or get the board repaired? the price difference is almost half which makes me think it might worth just repair it.

You sir are a gentleman and a scholar. Thank you very much for your help!!!

Now I just need to find a lg distributor with the part then I am good. Thanks again

I was asking if the actual part was from LG directly...

              How many hours on it?

I have an old LG, and that has 17,500 hours on it, and counting.....!

Personally, I doubt that increased life/panel-resistance will kill the Z-SUS--IF that was the case, then a universal test we use to determine faulty buffers--by disconnecting them--and the panel, would kill the Y/Z-sus....

@Tom - Sorry... No, I brought the part from 'flattvparts' near where I am. I did call LG before I read your reply but they do sell the board anymore.

@Alastair - The TV only had about 18 months of usage but I had it since 2009, so approx. 4000hrs. I assumed the zsus buffer board was ok because when I replace the zsus with a used part, the TV was working as normal until it broke again.

If you bought it from FlatTVParts it is a reclaimed part, from a broken TV. Nothing wrong with that, but it's not a new one.

Ok, I will try my luck with a brand new and see how it goes.

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

Hi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic...

Driving a Sharp TCON/panel with a universal main board
                      by advant
This thread is about trying to get an Universal Main Board to work with a Sharp TCON and panel.

I have a Sharp LC-46D85UN TV that has had a main board issue. Since this model is from 2009, I am not able to find an exact replacement of the main board. Instead, I decided to see if I can future proof this tv by getting a Universal Main Board (T53U21.2) from China to work with the Sharp TCON (CPWBX4291TPZA) and panel. The universal main board supports a 8 bit dual channel LVDS interface whereas the TCON requires a 10 bit dual channel LVDS input. I have modded the LVDS connector to match...

What parts can be salvaged from a plasma with a damaged display panel?
                      by SurrealMustard
I recently found myself the proud owner of a later-model Samsung plasma (the PN59D7000 for those keeping score at home) whose panel was, unfortunately, damaged in transport. I'm now preparing to part it out, but am curious as to whether or not any damage would have come to any of the components by attempting to power it up with the panel being broken. I read in one Avsforum thread (for whatever that's worth 😂) that the "scan driver boards" (by which I assume he means buffer boards) could be impacted by doing so. Is that actually the case? If so, since I don't intend on selling bad...

Hey all, want to poke the hive mind here for a technology I must be missing something critical about I can't discern from looking at spec sheets alone.

I have an ATGames Legends Pinball machine, the playfield is a 32" LCD Display. I'm trying to attach an LCD controller to it for direct PC access, as others have been successful.

The LCD is a SPLENDID CD320B01A-350 (I think it's a custom panel for ATGames as google turns up nothing), which is mated to a HV320FHB-N02 (47-6021088) T-CON board (this is probably the important component anyhow)

                      The LCD...
