I picked up a Phillips LED that all it does is make a repeating clicking noise when plugged in. If I unplug the main board connector (circled in yellow) the clicking stops. I found a fuse circled in red in the picture that was blow. Replaced the fuse and it blew as soon as I plugged it in. I unplugged the main board replaced the fuse and plugged the set in and the fuse did not blow and I had 5v standby on the PSU. As soon as I plug in the main board the fuse will blow.

Re: Philips 40pfl7505d/f7 clicking noise
There are relays on the SMPS, once the main board sends the power-ON command, the relay clicks on and the fuse "sees" a short, blowing.
I would check all FETs on the primary for shorts, you'll probably find one or two bad. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: Philips 40pfl7505d/f7 clicking noise
Those are them (although left hand one is for 5V standby and so should be OK), plus there are two others under the other metal heatsink on the primary side, test those too.
No need to desolder FETs for now. Just check for shorts. If you find shorts then desolder them to confirm the diagnosis.
When replacing the FET always replace the driver IC, resistors, and diodes on the gate tract of each FET to prevent repeated failure.Last edited by tom66; 03-31-2014, 05:04 PM.Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Out of interest, which three were bad? Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

One is a diode, probably only the two on that small heatsink were bad. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Statistically random failure due to limited operating lifetime, if they run hot they will fail faster, ALL electronic components have a lifespan.
If a component has a 100,000 hr MTBF (mean time between failures) then you can in fact expect a group of 100 of them to fail on average every 1,000 hours. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: Philips 40pfl7505d/f7 clicking noise
Did you figure this one out. I have same 23 blink. Nothing blown on power board that i cant measure. power board does have 2 terminals for troubleshooting. ps-on and bl-on. I shorted both and got good back lighting. all hooked up I get ps-on from main but no bl-on like main is waiting for a trigger. also with back lighting on there is no osd or video just blue while it goes through the 23 blink to click. any help thanks.Comment

Re: Philips 40pfl7505d/f7 clicking noise
I have picked up a simular tv and tho i can find a complete board i usually rather fix then just replace parts. The fets look unmarked from what i can see what is the best way to determine the specs so i can get them so i can attempt the repair.
thanksComment

Did you do any visual inspection of all the boards? Voltages checking on the power supply board?
Pictures of YOUR board will also help.Never stop learning

Re: Philips 40pfl7505d/f7 clicking noise
I got this problem too, the fets you said where probably bad on the smaller heatsink, replaced them with new one of exact model same problem, replaced all the diodes and resister compnesnt/gates etc to and from them too, no dice, i plan on ordering a new board, just didnt want to wait. any other guesses?Comment

by beetle1303I gotten a Carver CM-1090 amplifier from a friend who has kept it in storage for decades. Opened it up, thick layer of dust cumulated everywhere. Vacuumed it semi-cleaned, and blown off as much as possible the remaining dust. This is a 220V version.
On initial powered up with nothing connected - it works with all the lights and button indicator lit up as pressed, etc. I then powered off, connected a CD player into the CD RCA input and powered it on. It seemed to work for a short while and when I turned the volume up and down to see the the VUs works, the power started to clicked off...3 Photos-

by courtcircuitHello
I have since a long time a Philips HTS8010S/01 which has been old but was doing the job.
Since a few days, it starts by making a weird "static" nois when switches on for a few seconds to a minute and then works like a charm.
Noise loudly outputs from the 3 channels, even if no signal is sent by the controler.DVD to the subwoofer/amp unit.
I was thinking of a soldering that was starting to be damaged and that was only doing the job after a few seconds of heating, most probbaly on the power board
Removed each of tyhe boards

by socketaI bought a dead motherboard, and connected it to this PSU,
Was checking the standby voltages on the motherboard, and, whilst doing so, the PSU made a loud bang with a flash of light.
So now i truly got a bang for my bucks, and something else to try and fix.
The fuse was blowen, and the top was blowen off of a TNY276PN chip
The glass fuse didn't have any marking to say if it was fast or slow blow
So i checked the marking on the PCB thinking that that would tell me,
but it 's got a T/F8A printed on the board
So should i get a fast blow fuse, or should... -
by corrizeHello, I disassembled this dead camera, and found this WTF… Two fuses soldered one above the other !
I was pretty sure nobody touched it before, but that can't be from factory. There is flux, and capacitor is probably missing.
The other weird thing : the fuses are « G » fuse : (0.75A – 8V), seems very low. The original fuse should be « O » : (32V 2,5A).
There is « O » mark beside. All fuses have the same mark letter on main board. So, I can deduce it's a « O » fuse.
And this correspond to the issus I saw : when I plug the battery, I measure the voltage dropping... -
No power
i have the above ps which i change the TOP258eg ic.
Now i have power but is clicking and voltages are flutuating. I change all capacitors, i test all mosfets and all are ok.
i am wondering what is the value of R901! I am getting 0.5Ohms. Is that correct!
the colours look like R,R,W or silver,G Bl.
