Re: Samsung LN46A500T1F Color Distortion problem

Also, how do these ribbon cables work? They look like the tabs should be squeezed, but no amount of gentle pressure seemed to move them and I don't really want to break them experimenting.

Re: Samsung LN46A500T1F Color Distortion problem

      Hello

In need for some advice: got this same problem (solarization picture color) need to identify either is IC or Tcom. Have not opened it yet. Tried the first usual suspects:
      1. Picture diagnostic test
      2. Factory reset
      3. Firmware upgrade? (Haven't found where to obtain it)

Have some pictures but I'm on a mobile device and have bad time trying to upload as attachments so I uploaded them to a shared folder, here:https://www.dropbox.com/sh/791317y81...8Mcg0HXqa?dl=0

Any reply about this it will be really appreciated.

      Best regards

I would check the DC GAMMA Voltages at the test points on the T-CON board.

Hello, I'm waiting for a replacement board. Meantime I need to found one or more of the clipping that attach the two ribbon cables. Pics for clicks:

I don't think you can buy those separately - you have to buy a whole new T-con board.

Re: Samsung LN46A500T1F Color Distortion problem

Right. I'm ordering a new board. But it does include new ribbon retainers (the brown stuff there that hold down the ribbon contacts) I mean if then OK I should be more careful removing them. Just didnt figured out and accidentally broke one retainer (or it just was toast due to age / heat and when I forced out just came apart) anyhow, I'm waiting for the seller to confirm that have the board on stock and if they can issue the broken retainers (or how they're named). Any reference on how to successfully put them back on a new board? Hope I can fix this HDTV. Can't afford a new TV right now or on the next months, maybe years.

Yes! After two months the new board finally arrived. Hopefully had the ribbon 90° clips with it so replacement was easy. Turned on and everything seems right, no more solarized colors. I'm testing the board watching a couple Premier League matches. I thank you all for the help. If I did not found this forum I was lost with a non working HDTV. Thanks

Re: Samsung LN46A500T1F Color Distortion problem

My Samsung LN46A500T1FXZA has developed this color distortion:

I measured the voltages on my TCON board: (These are referenced to the large copper sections on the corner, which I took to be ground.)

                      1 15.17
                      2 13.05
                      3 12.22
                      4 11.34
                      5 10.93
                      6 10.55
                      7 10.1
                      8 9.47
                      9 8.88
                      10 6.02
                      11 2.65
                      12 5.03
                      13 4.84
                      14 4.58
                      15 4.19
                      16 3.32
                      17 2.5

Any recommendations on whether these voltages are the cause and whether changing out the chip would help?

Bad GAMMA IC AS19 (same common failure as AS15).

I ordered an AS19 replacement chip but noticed that repair kits advertised for this problem/board also include a surface mount fuse and resistor. Are those usually necessary?

No, not unless all voltages are nearly zero, which is a very uncommon fault.

Ok, I had problems with pads lifting as well. I lost 6 pads in the process. (Should have had more patience with the heat gun)

Anybody think this is worth trying to jumper all those connections? The three adjacent pins seem pretty difficult given how small these pins are.

What kind of wire is good for this sort of thing? Any tips on how to solder wire to a pin with only two hands?

There is also a stubborn solder-bridge between two pins (4 and 5 from the bottom on the right side) that I can't get out using solder wick. Any advice on that?

Hey guys, I have a Samsung LN46A500T1FXZA and I believe the Tcon board is bad. Below are the readings I've taken after reading a few posts. The part number of the Tcon board is V520H1-C06. I've gone ahead and checked out jimmyshop and I don't see them getting the part in any time soon. /:
