    Re: Toshiba 19DL502B totally dead

Hi all, I have the same dead symptom with my Toshiba 19DL TV but have yet to figure out how to get the case open. Anybody know the trick to getting the side edges of the bezel to release the back ?

John they are snapped into place, simply pull the two parts of the case apart and the snap will release. Its hard to do when the tv has first been opened.

Yes got it open, I just needed to be a little more assertive with it.
Thanks for the tip. Very impressed with your quick response.

        Have a great weekend...

Sorry to bump your thread, just like to thank Badcaps & Tom66 for the great assistance. I have this exact t.v. With the exact same fault, as suggested above I ordered 10 diodes from eBay for £2.50 including postage! After reading the above posts I decided to replace all 4 and got it working perfectly at a grand total of £2.50. The power of the Internet at its best....Thank you very much!
Ps. I also have 6 spares in case the same fault occurs :-)

              Re: Toshiba 19DL502B totally dead

Just joined having found this fantastic resource following a dead Vestel 17pw05-3 in my Toshiba. Have replaced all five of the commonly identified troublesome diodes but now have a problem that is perplexing me.
When I connect the psu back onto the casing via the four screw holes I get a dead tv. If I remove the screw at PL 707 it shows the start up lights flickering then it goes into stand by. Put the screw back in and the tv fails to start again.
Can I ask what might be causing this please?

Some pictures especially of your power supply, front and underside would be helpful.

Pictures as requested which I hope are useful for showing the psu board. I have included three close up's of the area around PL707.
Thanks for your reply and look forward to hearing any suggestions for going forward.

If you have a capacitance checker then check C701 & C711 and also with your meter on the highest Ohms range check resistance of each.
                    TH701 should measure 10 ohms.

                      Re: Toshiba 19DL502B totally dead

Thanks for the advice. I am awaiting delivery of a capacitance tester but in the meanwhile have completed a resistance test using my Philex 83000R multimeter set at a resistance of 2M.
C701 gave a reading of 448, but this moved around quite a bit to reach 515.

C711 peaked at 1100 and seemed to stabilise at around 980.

C701 looks like it needs replacing? However I can't make out much of the detail on the cap (SHM, X1400, Y1250 and E102M). As I am totally new to this I have no idea what to get as a replacement so any suggestion would be appreciated.

What DCV do you have between the two legs of the main filter caps C705, 706?

So you do have main DCV to run the SMPS IC700.
Do you have any DCV between the +/- legs of these caps?

And having now been able to check the blue disc capacitors, one shows 986 PF and the other 928 PF. It would be great to know what they should be!
                              Thanks for your continued help.

OK, so the power supply is not dead then.

Those are SAFETY X/Y caps for line noise filter, they are not needed for the circuit to function, no need to worry about them at this point.
