Whats the highest Use time you've seen on a Plasma set?

The highest Ive seen still giving a great picture was a Samsung with 25,000 odd hours on.

They say the panels are good for 60-100 thousand, time to half-brightness...

Whats the highest times have you seen? At these high times--what picture issues could have been due to just old age did you see?

I think Freakaftr8 had a Pioneer with 70,000 hours on it but it needed high VSUS to work (240V+)

Me personally I have had one with 16,500 hours, Panasonic 42" PZ8B, not a lick of burn in or maldischarge, had 10 blinks (PSU fault.) It looks just as good as my 46" PZ80 with just 3,500 hours on it.

Indeed. The pioneer I had had crazy hours on it. 70 thousand and some change. A quick vsus adjustment brought it back from the grave. The screen literally didn't fire and if left o. For 30 mins you would see the outside light up around the frame only.

I top out at about 10 000hrs. There's roughly 8760hrs in a year so 70000hrs plus equates to 8 continuous years of use minimum!

Must have been a TV junkie or commercial display?

I had no idea the panels lasted this long. Very good information to know!

              Samsung PS51E550 Plasma TV

              Hello,
I am having Samsung PS51E550 Plasma TV. While the TV was working, a crackling sound heard & video went off with audio still ON. After switching it off & ON, the red LED on TV blinks six times & then off.
Opened TV cover & observed foll
              a) Green LED on the small PCB blinks at @5-6sec ON & off for 3-4 secs. Red LED on logic board ON
b)Vs & Va on power supply board raises momentarily to 209v & 58v resp & then drops.
              c) Cold test on Y-main board shows all 3 pins of FGPF4536 IGBT short to Grnd.
How to confirm Y -Buffer board...

              Panasonic plasma TX-P42ST50 - 6 blinks
              by jm1234
              Hi,
anyone able to provide the service manual for old plasma Panasonic TX-P42ST50E?
It turns off almost immediately (0~5 seconds after pressing the on/off button) and starts flashing the red diode 6 times.
I disconnected the left-hand side board (SC?, both the ribbon cable and the power cable to it) and also another ribbon going to bottom left board. Then the led signal is 8 flashes. According to service guide to another Panasonic plasma it would mean the left-hand side board is faulty. But I'm not sure it 100% applies to my model.
I checked that board for any obvious faults...

Hitachi 55HDS69 55" Plasma TV - No Picture But Sound
              by KYBOSH
Picked up a bahemoth plasma TV not too long ago and just now getting around to looking at it.
No picture but you hear the TV static (white noise) playing loud and clear.
The back was already taken off (and no screws were provided) as the previous owner had already taken a look.
But it seems they didn't get too far and just left it.

When I first took a look I was amazed at how pristine the inside looked.
Its as if the TV had been in a time capsule.
Caps looked like they were just pulled off the self.
Copper coils had no sign of corrosion on...

Schematic or datasheet for Plasma TV buffer chip
              by Yanleb
              Hi all,

I'm interested in understanding how a buffer board chip is working. I know there's about 90 outputs per chip to the plasma panel, but I'm more interested to know about the input pins. I guess that some of them are address pins, but I want to know more.

So far I've found nothing at all. I haven't found any datasheet about the various buffer chips, and I haven't found any schematic for the buffer board using them (Y Buffer Board in Samsung's terminology).

Any information will make me happy. It can be from any buffer chip or plasma TV manufacturer....
