Anyone have the LG 'SVC' mal-discharge/red-spot Control-Board Update Kit?

I have a complete kit--but made a cock-up of something, so now my control-board doesnt work at all.

This kit is the official LG jig for use with computer,--not the stand-alone jig-- comes with a disc of drivers, the download software and loads of firmware files for the various models.--Mine is the 42PC1DA with 'red-spot' The software for the PC is made by 'Blue-Chip' as is the adaptor-board and USB cable etc.

The instructions that came with on PDF format are not very extensive, I followed them, but the firmware doesnt install correctly.

I can erase the eeprom, but on checking eeprom blank, it comes back as 'failed' with some hex-code message I don't understand.

On 'auto' mode it goes through the erase, then download, and fails the 'verify' stage, right at the end.

Tried it all ways, 32/16meg memory, (switchable on the computer-software) even tried with the 4 pin lead instead of the 15 pin, much the same results...

    Any ideas...?

Re: Anyone have the LG 'SVC' mal-discharge/red-spot Control-Board Update Kit?

After lots of messing round on the web, hitting that infamous 'scribd' thing that wants dosh off you to view it, Ive found the full instructions here for free--

    http://www.slashdocs.com/mhqsvt/plas...-for-cd-1.html

I include this here for anyone else who is in this predicament.

I think--from reading the above that I may have found where I went wrong.
--The board needs to be disconnected from the Y-sus and Z-sus and an external 5V applied,--so effectively the board can be updated without being attached to a set at all.

--My instructions that I have with the kit, just said power on the set......

I'll get round to this later this week--see if I can de-corrupt my buggered up board, apparently this is possible when everything is correct, a fresh download--all things being equal--will fix the problem......

Well, The issue turned out to be the Computer I was using in the end!

For some reason, it just wouldnt work, many attempts at fixing the issue failed and through various assumptions I decided there was some issue with its USB.

Tried on another laptop I borrowed from a friend, and one attempt--job done.
--Board re-set, then three leds near big chip on it light--as normal. All straightforward and simple--took less than 3 mins to do.

Re-fitted to the set, and the red-spot--which was really Very bad--like a red-haze on anything even approaching black--changed to a very light sprinkling of green spots....

Tweaks of Vs down by 10V and a tweak to the Set_up/Set_dn and the spots are practically banished--except for one corner when its stone cold.

Set has run for a few hours with a reasonable picture--and its modified/repaired IPM is still running.

Fixed: Lenovo P14s Gen 1 (type 20Y1, 20Y2) Laptop (ThinkPad) bricked by a withdrawn BIOS update (r1buj82w)
        by akwky
        Hi!
Went dumpster-diving and found a bricked Lenovo P14S in trash, few weeks earlier. Symptoms - no screen, no POST, no beep, just keyboard LEDs flashing on powerup. Mute button+LED was responding though, and the display self-test was still working (via the key combo Ctrl+Fn+Power held for some seconds, see the Service manual).

Incidentally, Windows 11 have recently started auto-flashing computer BIOS in our region. Even more suspiciously, Lenovo has released a BIOS update just few days before the PC was trashed. About a week later, the BIOS update image has been oficially marked...

z490-f gaming bricked after bios update
        by lordgeny
I had to assemble a PC with this Z490-F Gaming motherboard and an i7-1700K CPU. Upon the first boot, the CPU LED was red and flashing. I realized that I needed to update the BIOS. I didn't read the ASUS notice that said, "Before BIOS update, please download Intel ME update tool from ASUS support site, and update ME firmware to Version 14.1.53.1649V1.1 to ensure optimized system settings." I updated the BIOS without doing this, and everything seemed fine until the system performed an Intel ME update and shut down permanently. My attempts to reflash it were unsuccessful. Searching online,...

        by iMuhtaseb
this board suffered from a bad trackpad and bad keyboard after liquid damage; board was turning on no issues..
we've replaced the bad trackpad and bad keyboard no issues whatsoever.. during 2nd final checkup we booted to an external macOS and there started the critical update issue; it boots externally but to the internal SSD it shows critical update; tried Wi-Fi tried Ethernet tried Hotspot same thing..
One weird symptom is it takes too long to power on and show the Apple logo for some reason..

I've taken a look into the MLB and noticed tiny liquid around Q3100.. its...

        Update bios EFCN58WW to EFCN59WW
        by al3m0di
Update bios EFCN58WW to EFCN59WW for solving The Connected AC adapter has a lower wattage than the recommended AC adapter

        I have a Lenovo Legion 5 15imh05a device that I bought used online. It came with a 20V 8.5A 170W charger.

        The BIOS version is EFCN58WW.

When I turn on the device, it displays the message:
"The Connected AC adapter has a lower wattage than the recommended AC adapter..."

The device rarely charges the battery, and even when it does, it doesn't show that it's charging.

        I've tried
