    Re: Kenwood question

LCD TVs are quite different to LCD modules like this.

In a lot of these modules, the panel drive happens on one chip-on-glass module which contains all GATE and SOURCE driver. However it's a dumb driver and must be controlled by the main board and also needs to be supplied the VGH, VGL, AVDD and VCORE voltages (approx +25V, -8V, +15V and +3.3V/+2.8V, though they may be lower/different for smaller panel.) It needs SYNC signals to update the display on time, 60 times/second.

So it's hard to use an LCD TV reference to say if this is a bad panel but my suspicion is it is not, and instead you're talking about a main board. BUT, I wouldn't rule out the LCD.

    You always pick tricky projects.

      Re: Kenwood question

I'm picking these projects, because nobody repairs these Kenwood units.
I may give up one day, but for now I give them a try.
Kenwood, charges $30 for a diagnosis, I may end up dropping it off.

        Re: Kenwood question

I have got the other unit back and swapped the LCDs between them and it turned on as it should.
The panel and touchscreen are the same in both units and most likely in all the 6.1" Kenwood units.
It's the same one as in the Ebay link.
I just have to order that panel and unit it's done.
Thank you, for your input on this receiver.

Kenwood SW-505D no sound issue and pops from time to time when it works
          by ex250
          Hello mates,

I bought this subwoofer a few days ago used and blind and it works erratically, as far as I could see, it has been tampered with, the speaker is not the original one and of 8 Ohm when it should be of 4, and there are some welds like reworked by the boards.

It doesn't have much power (expected more from it) and it distorts if you increase the volume over the middle, maybe it's because of the high impedance of the speaker. The problem is that it has sound when it wants, the led panels all work correctly, you can hear the power relay on power on, but right now...

MacBook Air A2337 (820-02016) USB-C Port Issue – Only Works in One Orientation (CC Line Problem?)
          by rounin
          Hi everyone,

I'm working on a MacBook Air 2020 (A2337, board 820-02016) and running into a strange USB-C issue. I've gone through quite a bit of testing and part replacement, but I'm stuck — hoping someone here can shed some light.

          🛠 Original Issue
          The machine initially wouldn't negotiate 20V over USB-C — stuck at 5V.
Diagnosis showed PP1V5_UPC0_LDO_CORE shorted to ground.

I replaced U3100 (UF400) using a donor board (A2179), and the machine powers on fine now.

          Hello guys!
I have a strange issue with my laptop keyboard and I'm lost trying to detect what's wrong - the KB9028Q-C or the keyboard itself.
It powers on OK and has no other issues except the following:
          • CAPS LOCK does not work at all
          • Fn button toggles Flight Mode
          • When I press 't' or '5', it produces 't5', and when I press 'y' or '6', it produces 'y6'
          • (with SHIFT pressed: 't%' and 'y^' respectively)
I initially thought it was a keyboard malfunction (internal short, etc.),
but when I press and hold...

Alienware 15 R2 Service Tag: DL7NN32 ISSUE (Battery is not charging)
          by Simone Vergani
          Hello everyone,

I'm experiencing an issue with my Alienware 15 R2 (Service Tag: DL7NN32). The laptop works perfectly when connected to the AC adapter — it powers on and functions normally. However, the battery does not charge. If I disconnect the DC adapter, the laptop shuts down immediately, as the battery is at 0%. I have replaced the battery with a new compatible one, but the issue persists. I also replaced the AC adapter with a compatible one, but the battery still doesn't charge.

To assist with troubleshooting, I'm attaching two power circuit schematics:
