Thank you, I was under the impression you grounded the PS-ON pin and used a resistor on the VS-ON pin. Also the power supply is on the bench until i can get and prove voltages.

first job you need to do is take out that cap and throw it as far as you can.Dont buy from Maplins these are general purpose Caps ,you need a low ESR cap, Panasonic FR/FM would be my choice but any low ESR will do. after you fit this and your replacement thermistor you may be good to go? when you are checking voltages on the Hot side of a power supply, use the negative leg of the large cap as ground and meter set to DC volts for all testing, when testing on secondary side use the metal work as negative ground (fixing screws) and meter set DC voltsLeave a comment:

Yes it is. Voltages in and out of the following components
Ground - Pin 2 of ICB802
IN OUT
DQ801 - 22acv 24dcv

RQ809 - 24dcv 10.9dcv
RQ803 - 10.9dcv 6dcv
RQ805 - 6dcv 1.4dcv

I though that your problem was with the 5vSTBY ? the inrush thermistor is over the power ON relay so will not affect 5vSTBY, the supply for this comes off before the relay, so the thermistor only comes into play when the relay clicks in from the PS ON signal to the relay coil.Leave a comment:

Hi these inrush thermistors have a habit of the shells cracking (still work but don't look to good on a refurbished P/B)so I change them often when I do my refurbish power supply work. I get them from China but you can get them on eBay item number:271685468228 that is the one I would use ,this guy has lot of handy parts and I use him myself , he all way seems to have what I want when I am in a need it now situation FlockoLeave a comment:

Thanks for that, quick update on my situation. I have managed to put the board down on my tweezers which has caused a short and blown NT801S (SCK20206LSY) Doh !!! I am having trouble trying to source a replacement. Could you please advise what characteristics i should match, I have several options in the UK but nothing identical. Hi, I Know this is an old thread but it is relevant. I have the same power supply with no STD_5v. The problem was no sign of life, took power supply out and visually inspected to find capacitor CX408 had split. Replaced with identical part. Powered up supply board to find no STD_5V. After reading this post have checked fuses, etc. I have 230v to DB801 but at FB801S I have 20.2V. At Viper22A I have 20.2V on all drains and 0.3V on VCC. Can you tell us what replacement you used for CX408 ? If you can follow on from DQ801+802 and check the in and out voltage to the ground of ICB802 as its looking likely that you problem is on the supply to the viperLeave a comment:

Capricorn64, we seem to have crossed in our posts, i just saw your last update.
10 ohms is what i would expect & you should have that across QX801/802 as well. This means your Vs tract with the QS801 & 802 transistors is almost certainly ok (although I'm a bit confused as i believe you said FS801S was blown which would indicate blown QS801/2).
Do the little FET test from my earllier post on all 4 FETs & i would expect the QS801/2 to work correctly & the QX801/2 not.

thanks for the guidance , I will have to get back to you with the readings on Wednesday as I am on a business trip tomorrow and not back till Wednesday, I think I may have written something down wrong , none of the fuses have blown they are all intact , I am thinking QX801 /802 are blown .

HI Capricorn64, apologies i got an extra F in that fuse number . It's FX801 & you should find it between the middle 2 heatsinks along with FS801. According to the drawing it should be 4 Amps.
To check a FET lie it down in front of you (face up so you see the numbers on it & pins pointing towards you), pop your meter on diode check setting & put the negative meter probe on the middle pin, keep it there & touch the right hand pin with the positive probe & note the reading. Now keep the negative on the middle pin but touch the left pin (gate) with the positive probe & the reading should drop as you switch the FET on. It's a quick check & you should get similiar results on all the devices.
On the board itself where the FET's are soldered in, find the 3 pins of each FET & with your meter on resistance just measure the resistance across the 2 outside pins of each device (gate-source), you should have equal resistance across each FET. Just do that & let us have the readings.

To be honest a blown QS801 is the least of your worries. The QS801 is in the Vs tract & as i said before you need to get the Va running first. You can fire up one of these boards on the bench without the Vs working, i do it all the time but you must have a good working Va tract. The Va generates all the lower voltages like 5v 12 18v etc etc. Did you do a resistance comparison between the QS & the QX FET's like i suggested earlier ? A blown QS801 probably means a blown QS802 , i certainly wouldn't replace just one of them & the small surface mount resistors & transistors are probably blown as well. I am surprised that you say the fuse FXF801 is ok as i would have expected it to be blown if QS801 is faulty.
In your situation i would do the following, if you are certain QS801 is faulty remove it & QS802 & forget about the Vs side for now, Double check the fuse FXF801 and check for identical resistance reading when reading across the outside pins of both QX801/802 (Gate-Source) Do that & let us know what reading you get. If they aren't more or less identical to each other then you have Va tract problems as well .

This is my first attempt at troubleshooting a board like this, I know I could just buy a new board but I'm curious to figure out how this works. I've been testing different components in the evenings this week and I think the problem is with the IC failing to start up for some reason. When the board is plugged in there is no standby voltage.
Then today it randomly sprung to life like a zombie but shortly died thereafter. I have no idea why it would have done that and its the first time I've seen it running. I discharged capacitors on the board last night, then it was sitting today.... -
by fharris1977Hi. I got a Vizio with no power or standby, and won't turn on with remote or button. I checked the voltages on the connector and all read 0.00V or nearly 0(0.050 ON/OFF pin). None of the pins are labeled STB for standby although I do see some 5V pins. Other than the obvious standby led, which isn't coming on, is there a way to check for standby voltage on this PS. I'm trying to see if my problem is the PS or mainboard. Some Vizios I have fixed with no standby led me to think it was the PS but it turned out being the mainboard. I started a thread while back regarding TV power supply standby circuitry as it is something I am not quite on top of.
SMPS theory and function is becoming more familiar, however the standby part is still a bit of a mystery.
Anyway, a friend has this TV with the above mentioned power supply board which has no standby voltage, nor any other voltages leaving the board.
The mains AC comes in fine, gets filtered and rectified with power is on the main filter cap as well as the transformer and drain pins of the ICE3B0665J, but that's it.

by psssstHello forum. I've recently been given a Yamaha TSX 120 DAB radio and ipod dock. Its working well however when put on standby its using 6.3 watts. The manual states less than 1 watt on standby. I measured this with a plug in monitor which seems accurate with other items. In use it uses around 7.5 watts. Firstly has anyone who owns a similar radio also got a plug in monitor to check if this is normal with this unit? In the first half a second the monitor shows 0.3 watts which I suspect is what it should use but something is switching it to be almost fully powered. I've searched the manual for eco...

Hello everyone,
I got a Samsung The Frame 55 inch TV for free from uncle cause it is not turning on anymore. I am in the second year of training as an electrician so I have knowledge already but I am far away from to be a pro.
The TV has Standby but ist not turning on. A Friend of mine owns a 50 inch Frame TV so I checked the One Connect Box and the One Connect Cable there. Both are good and working normally. I have opened the TV case and measured some voltages on the Board.
What I already found is that the 12.8V are not an the connector to the main board connector to the power... - Loading...
