Got ANOTHER p50hdtv10a with flickering screen, replaced shorted ipms on the y board. Now I have a vertical bar in center of the screen when powered on, goes from top to bottom. I push input the vertical bar goes away, and a green distorted 8-inch box pops up in the left corner, but it is not readable. here is a picture, lower buffer is disconnected as of now, reason for only half screen.

Re: Vizio P50hdtv10a vertical bar
Try with both buffers installed. You probably have bad FETs on the buffers.

Re: Vizio P50hdtv10a vertical bar
I initially had both buffers hooked up, same vertical bar top to bottom. I will check the fet's.Comment

I would try applying a low current across supply and ground, around 500mA or so, max 5V, and see what heats up.Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: Vizio P50hdtv10a vertical bar
Found 2 shorted fets after further testing, replaced them, short is gone from the buffer board. BUT, now when installed in tv, I get no picture, no screen "prime" glow at all. The y sustain is humming like it should. I dont wanna buy another y board.Comment

Check you secured all connection cables, including the one between the Y buffers present on some of these sets. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: Vizio P50hdtv10a vertical bar
All cables are secure, I did find some voltage quite odd. At the 5v test point on the upper buffer board connected to ysus, I am getting -112 volts? How is this happening?Comment

Re: Vizio P50hdtv10a vertical bar
5V on there is relative to Vsc or -Vy voltage. it's floating 5V.Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: Vizio P50hdtv10a vertical bar
That makes sense. I got no luck with getting any "glow" to the screen. Im thinking panel may be shot. But wouldnt the tv go into protection if something was faulty?Comment

Re: Vizio P50hdtv10a vertical bar
The panel will usually buzz loudly if it is bad. I highly doubt the panel is bad. Aside from cracked screens, these panels are reliable. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: Vizio P50hdtv10a vertical bar
Im only getting 11 ohms on the upper buffer board, shouldnt i be getting between 300-600 ohms for it to be functioning properly?Comment

Re: Vizio P50hdtv10a vertical bar
You should get infinity / OL one way and around 600mV drop the other way (diode mode, not ohms. You can't use ohms mode to get accurate reading on these boards. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: Vizio P50hdtv10a vertical bar
I think I got my buffers sorted, now for the y sustain. On the VSC test points one is measuring -101 v and other is +11v, these should be higher?Comment

Re: Vizio P50hdtv10a vertical bar
Good stuff guys, I have one of these tv's of my own that I am repairing. P50HDTV10A
I found that three of my six total FETS on the buffer boards were shot so I replaced all of those at the same time and I am also about to begin trouble shooting my Ysus. Is it possible when the Buffer FETs went they took an IPM with them? (I have to wait for a cable to come in the mail before I can work on the set anyway since my cat chewed through it.......*facepalm*)Comment

What is the NC pin above the vs+ on the power supply board? What should it be reading on the meter?Comment

by Stanley1843Hello, I have a screen in where sometimes when I open it pop-up vertical multicolor lines (I would say the most of them are green). If I tun off and turn on the screen the lines dissapear or if I leave open the screen after approximately five minutes the lines gone. I measured the below voltages on the main PCB and on the T-CON board and the voltages are the same when it doesn’t display the vertical lines and when it displays the vertical lines. Also, I cleaned all the connectors very good with IPA. I moved back and forth the connectors and the COF tabs but the vertical lines didn't displayed...

by Ryan.manHello everybody! Posting this in hopes somebody has some expertise that leads to a clear path of troubleshooting that saves me a lot of time!
My macbook has the flex cable problem, the one that prevents the screen turning on. Ive been dealing with this for the last 3 years. Last year it went dead and I managed to fix it following youtube tutorials. But my fix wasnt the best, the problem returned a month later. This week, it went dead again. I again tried to fix it.
This time the original cable broke too close to the screen, it can't be fixed without tearing the screen... -
Hi,
Just now my Samsung LC32HG70QQUXEN monitor gave up on me. On cold boots I get many vertical stripes going across the screen (see the attached picture). After it runs for 1-2 minutes those go away but there are horizontal stripes going across the whole screen no matter of the input and PCs I use. (couldn't take an picture of it since the image size goes to 20MB and the camera doesn't pick them up)
In a video about a 27" monitor with an similar issue the guy removes one resistor and supposedly the entire monitor goes back to life? For sure this fix is only temporary....-

by ahoonidHey everyone,
I bought a MacBook A1990 with no screen. I bought it knowing the motherboard was defective but wasn't sure what the problem was until I received it. It actually turns on but as you see from the attachment, it has vertical stripes, on an external screen!!
The board is neat. Not opened before for sure. Just a little dust, nothing more.
Recovery using wifi can be opened, as can also be seen in the photo but it doesn't go all the way through after connecting it to a wifi. It downloads the initial Recovery files but never completes the rest of the... -
by almarhumHas one here really gone through fixing laptop screen vertical line(s) by repairing/replacing its Embedded DisplayPort (EDP) cable, so would recount and share the complete steps of the process here now?
As most, if not all, believe the laptop screen vertical line(s) caused by defective Embedded DisplayPort (EDP) cable which slipped and passed through either laptop screen hinge but post here is asking help to elaborate definitively the useful, real knowledge of repairing in the most complete, correct way, esp. can decide/determine whether the cable can still be fixed or must be re...-
