    Vizio VO42L FHDTV10A amber->orange, power OK, unresponsive

    Hi,

    I've perused the related posts for this model, here. Everything looks OK (except, of course, something I haven't thought of looking at, yet! ).

    Amber logo when plugged in. +5VSB available. Power button brings up white logo and all supplies (12V, 24V). No backlights visible. No changes with power cable to HV inverter removed (note: appears to be a different inverter; all on one board, no LED).

    All regulators seem to be operating properly on main board:
    U15 5.05 -> 3.33
    U16 11.50 -> 5.05
    U20 3.29 -> 1.80
    U17 5.05 3.37 2.11
    U19 5.06 2.55 1.27
    U21 2.55 1.26 0
    U22 5.10 3.35 2.09
    U44 11.50 9.66 8.39

    No obvious bad caps, scorched components, signs of magic smoke leaking, etc. Will have to remove shroud to get a peek at TCON.

    Logo seems to "fade" in intensity after coming on as bright white (?). But, I'd have to prove that to myself before swearing to it.

    Set is unresponsive after that initial "power on" -- including the ability to power OFF! As if the processor was "distracted". Original owner complained set degraded slowly over time until getting to this unresponsive state (hard to imagine a software failure degrading like this).

    Photos will have to wait as no batteries for camera (though I doubt anything will be visible regardless -- my eyes are old but not THAT old! )

    SWMBO is grumbling about the amount of kit piling up around here so I've got to take the time to fix it or scrap it (I guess having 10 pairs of SHOES is OK but anything with wires is "junk", eh?)

    advTHANKSance!
