LG 55NANO913NA Purple / Pink Line / Spot

    Hello everyone,

I am struggling with an issue on my LG TV, as mentioned in the title - please see the attached photos.

The display / panel has been replaced in March 2023, under warranty - right before expiring after 2 years of use - due to a bunch of dead pixels.
Then in a few months the purple / pink line started showing up, however the LG service said that this is not covered by any warranty, anymore, since the original one has expired.

Recently I have just asked a repair firm to have a look and they have said that the panel needs to be replaced, however this costs about $650, so it's not worth it.

I have seen a similar issue on plasma panels, under this topic, and was wondering if reflowing the solders will sort this out.

    Thanks,
    Vlad

The repair company is right, the panel needs to be replaced. Reflowing does not help and you cannot compare this TV with a plasma TV.

      Thanks for the quick reply.

This means that this model has faulty panels, since it got damaged in just a few months, after it was replaced.
I was hoping for a less expensive repair cost.

          Thanks, Diah.

I copied the photos and let them play in a slideshow for about 15 minutes.
          Black is black and uniform.

Also forgot to mention that I did unplug the TV for 30 mins and held the power button on the remote for at least 15 seconds, with no results.

Then I did a factory reset from the menu and that seemed to help for just a bit.

you need to do hard reset by sending command INSTOP followed with code 0413 , you can do it from LG service RC or mobile android with IR sender and RC apk or DIY it... all you can find in this forum

Thanks Diah, I am trying to get hold of an Android phone with IR and will revert with the outcome.

Hi again, just tried the reset with the service remote, it worked, however there is no difference in the image, as it's still showing the pink / purple spot.

Looks like you got screwed, seems like a new panel should be under warranty from the time you get it.

Not one single day of extra warranty, after the original one expired on the 8th of March 2023, even though the panel was replaced a few days before the warranty expiry, the new replacement had no warranty.

So if they change a part right before the standard warranty expires and that part brakes, then you're on your own, eligible to pay for any subsequent repair.

The new panel should have had at least 6 months of warranty.

Not sure how is it in other countries, but this doesn't make sense from a customer point of view.

Don't know if you have this same issue, this is a fix for certain conditions if a tv has the side tabs: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7OuPTl9TgUY

Thanks, I couldn't find anyone to open it, check it and test to see if it has side tabs, however it seems that the panel has degraded a bit more, showing a round darker spot in the middle-right of the screen, so I will have to either change the panel or to buy a new TV when this one dies completely.
Most probably I will buy a new one.

The LG service representative was adamant that there is no exception that can be made, to repair this one, out of warranty.
