Samsung LA37B530P7R color and picture quality problem

Hi everybody,
just wanted to share the problem of my 3yr old samsung lcd tv and hope that it will be fixed with the help of others in this forum, here's what happened, i was watching a movie halfway from a media player which is 1080p resolution, suddenly the screen flickered then the screen looked over contrast and the resolution was like a 32bit color format, i've tried reseting the color from the menu, but still not the same as before, and also the upper box of the menu seem in low resolution also co'z you can see the box is in rainbow color, rather than a solid grey, do you think its the t-con board? i'm new to fixing lcd's so help from you guys will be much appreciated, here's some pics.

You could try going into the service menu, choosing "option" and doing a factory reset, if that doesn't work sometimes changing the screen type and then back to the original can put it right, yet again within the service menu. If any of these don't work then your suspicion of a faulty T-con is likely, more specifically the Gamma chip, I think it's the AS-15 but will need that confirming, Merry Christmas by the way.

Is it the same on all inputs?
Could be the T-con but first try removing cleaning and replacing cables to/from the tcon.
When you get in there post a picture of the set with the back off then to start with a pic of the tcon.

Are you sure this is a fault? My LE40A656 looks the same in the menus.

Are you sure this is a fault? My LE40A656 looks the same in the menus.

Don't know? did not pay attention looking at the menu box, just thought is affected in some way.
But i'm pretty sure the colors are not the same as before..

Something else I've done with a Samsung LE32R88 which had funny colours was to adjust the "sub-bright" level, this I raised until it brought back all the normal colours, unfortunately it looked like the brightness was way up but for me, well my son, better that than funny colours. If you want to adjust this as a test choose a source, a DVD playing is fine and re-enter the service menu, fine sub-bright and raise to see what it looks like, remember it's starting number so you can put it back if it doesn't correct it some what.

Also, could you please take a picture of what the whole menu looks like when on, as close as you can get it so all is visible, your first picture doesn't look as bad as I remember it.

Raising the sub bright only whitens the screen no change in color or picture quality, the menu box is fine exept for the color of the icons and the rainbow lines ontop of the menu box which should be a solid grey color only, but tom66 said its the same with his samsung.

You cannot see the rainbow color if not close enough, see the vertical rainbow lines? Could this be a tcon problem or main board?

My menus look like that. You need to try putting greyscale patterns up on panel to see how they look. As for rainbow vertical lines, those are the R-G-B pixels! They are in columns.

I went to the color patterns and checked solid colors are ok (red, blue, green) and seen this one (attached pic) is this normal? A solid black bar left side and washed or faded right side.

Sounds like some user settings are wrong, but otherwise I am failing to see issue? What is normal TV like?

Hmm, well, that doesn't look quite right. But, for comparison, could you plug TV into a laptop or other computer, and try displaying a static image of, say, a gradient, or a known picture?
