My buddy has a Samsung LCD that had issues in the past with turning on and so he ordered the capacitor kit from LCD alternatives. Instead of fixing it he bought a new tv and threw this problem tv in the garage for six months.
He just brought it over to my house and I replaced the capacitors for him. When we went to turn the TV on, nothing would happen. There was not even a standby light.
After messing with all the ribbon cable connectors for awhile, we were able to get the standby light to come on and then the TV turned on when pressing the power button. The TV worked fine, picture was good.
I now have come to realize that this issue is completely repeatable. Every time you unplug the TV from the outlet, it will not go into standby when plugged back in. I have to unplug and reinstall the large ribbon cable between the power board and the main board which has the HDMI ports. As soon as I do this the standby light turns on every time! I can them turn the TV on and it works fine. WTF! Thanks in advance for your guys assistance!
