    Audiosonic DV-3300FA (DVD player)

I was given a disfunctional DVD player recently, the previous owner had been curious and had opened it up pulling bits out here & there... it's PSU board caught my eye and I thought I'd share, the dubious brand capacitors were marked KYS vent (and that's exactly what they were doing)

I suppose the case could be used for some electronics kit... I dunno'

I examined this model as well and had the KYS capacitors as you described (The front flap was missing, so I scrapped the whole player)
My first choice in quality Japanese electrolytics is Nippon Chemi-Con, which has been in business since 1931... the quality of electronics is dependent on the quality of the electrolytics.

Yeah, it defintely wasn't worthy of any time to fix it, though this one does have the DVD drive facia... may end up as a housing for a low powered hardware firewall or similar

That would be pretty cool if it does happen!

I am not sure if this is an economical at all, but wouldn't it be cool to have a small low powered media centre PC in there. Somehow fitting in one of those small VIA based nano-ITX or micro-ATX motherboards inside and actually making use of that DVD Drive facia to play DVD's and/or other stuff.

I guess it would be cool but also a fairly expensive project.

No not too expensive though ITX form factor gear is not cheap, think epoxy glue back of fascia & front (tray) of PC DVD player, IIRC there was a VHS based media centre floating around somewhere on the net

The real difficulty if locating something that will fit the lower profile DVD enclosures, mobo/CPU + Heatsink kinda' starts getting quite tall

Interesting idea. Some older DVD players are taller and much bigger all around. They might work better. You could probably put a common MicroATX board in many of them, but not too high profile. Same would also be true of early CD players. But a CD player won't have all the outputs you'd want on the back, so that would be less convenient to convert.

I have an early 5-disc DVD player which is huge, but I'm not sure what I'd do with the carousel. A single disc player would be more convertible to a PC.

Split the carousel cover into stealth drive covers. Should not be too difficult.

                Victrola multi-player - No audio
                by kokopelli75
                Hello!

My mother has a Victrola Navigator player that stopped functioning after a storm. I checked out what I could - all player functions appear to work, but there is no audio output in either the speakers or the headphone jack. I suspect (with my limited knowledge) that the amplifier part of the device is toast. Photo of the suspected board is attached. There's separate boards for front display, record player, etc. This board has a section for power regulation and a section for amp. There's a UTC7266 7+7W dual bridge amplifier IC and a CSC2314F sound processor IC on the board. Visually,...

LG BH6420P Home theather blue ray player repair
                by unimatrix93
Hello everyone, I'm trying to troubleshoot this LG hometheater player.

The customer forced her USB drive reversed into it's USB socket and since then the player won't work properly, only shows "Please wait" error forever on it's display.

Now I started diagnosing the USB socket and the mainboard where it's connected.

I found 20ohm resistance to ground on the 5V line of the USB.

5V is missing and I found the buck converter of the USB line, TPS65252 IC.
After measuring the pins I realized that both VIN and 3V3 is correctly present...

Panasonic AG-1000B VHS player with bad picture quality
                by FZG
                Hello!

I recently got an old VHS player from Panasonic and just for fun I want to try to repair this device. It is an AG-1000B portable VHS player from 1990 and it has a problem with picture quality in playback mode.

Picture in playback mode is very noisy and often loses sync but the still images are nearly perfect.

I want to know, is this something that could be solved by recapping or is the video head likely gone?

                Also, what mechanism is this?

                Any feedback is appreciated!...

Help troubleshooting an audio problem with an RCA SGT-250 CED Player
                by samson7point1@yahoo.com
The Problem: This player has a toggle switch to select between Stereo, Mono R, and Mono L. Regardless of the setting it outputs the sound to both the L&R audio jacks. In the Mono R position, the audio output level is normal (from both the L and R audio output jacks), in the Stereo position the audio output is about half the volume, and in Mono L, it's about 3/4 the volume. Something about putting it into Stereo mode is causing the volume to drop significantly and I can't figure it out.

The player processes the audio signal using two different reference frequencies. The "R"...
