Im helping a buddy trouble shoot a tv he picked up, had a fine line down left side of screen. Took back off looked at all boards, components all good. He disconnected the top right buffer board ribbon cables while the tv was powered on, and connection was made causing a electrical zapping sound coming out of the ribbon connector. Now he has 2 black bars on that same side of tv. Can connecting ribbons to connector that is powered fry that part of panel? I assume it did fry the panel, just looking for other advice.

Re: LG 60PC1d Panel Fried?
Thin line is always bad panel anyway. Making those connections while the TV on is incredibly unwise and can easily wreck a nice TV.Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: LG 60PC1d Panel Fried?
Agreed. There's always a slight possibility that the electrical arc burned the ribbon cable. Look at the connections. If they.are ok then you most likely took out the upper panel IC's and those are not replaceable. Would mean that the panel is destroyed.Did I leave the soldering iron on?Comment

by NWArkGuyWell, I will be the first to admit that I screwed up...
In attempting to replace the backlight in a UN65TU8000, I made a hole through one of the ribbon cables between the board that runs along the bottom of the back of the TV and the panel. This lead to a between a 1/4 to 1/2 inch vertical stripe running the full height of the image.
I don't have the experience; personally, to solder a bridging wire for the paths that were cut. So, I have been on the hunt for other Samsung TV's of similar size.

by triplefourTV flashes backlight then reboots over and over. no image. Client said it used to have image for a bit before rebooting. Got worse over time.
tcon is built into mainboard.
Only one cable goes to panel boards.
there is a cable from one panel board to the other that links them.
cost cutting measure that results in us having harder time to diagnose.
removing the link to the second panel board allows TV to stay on with stable backlight but no image.
used cut off tape method to mask 1 maybe 2 pins on the side of the cable that goes to that second panel board.... -
by HelikvarNo picture ,tv appears to turn on and off using remote as standby led goes from red to nothing when on and red again when off
. Backlights also light up when tv is powered on.
Removing panel ribbon cable from left side screen still dark.
Removing panel ribbon cable from right side the right panel is white and left panel is dark but within a few seconds the left panel has a large green vertical bar and beside it many thin red lines. This whole screen dims down to dark within a few seconds and the right side slowly turns white again.
. Tcon gets 12 volt
. Tried taping...8 Photos -
I have a TCL 55P6US with sound and backlight but no picture. This model does not have a T-CON board, and the right (rear perspective) panel board is fed from the left panel board. I have not been able to induce any change by disconnecting the secondary panel board or the tape cut-off method on the primary board.
There are a bunch of voltages missing on the panel boards. I can't find any shorted caps of the panel boards, and all of the missing voltage rails read in the kiloohms, which leads me to suspect the issue may lie on the circuit board, rather than a short in the panel.

- Prior owner tried a replacement main board. No difference.
- Samsung 2x red blinking standby LED = panel fault
- Jumpered FB_TRDY_1 (pin 1 CN1300 left. main tcon->left side buffer boards) and FB_TRDY_3 (pin 95 CN1301 right. main tcon->right side buffer boards) This allows testing individual T-Con (on main board) connection to panel on this Samsung. Found fault on left side (viewing from rear of TV)
- Each side has 2 buffer boards, disconnected left side flex between 2 buffer boards. Fault is on the left most board.
- Tape masking eventually isolated to CN1300 pin 15 (CKV4_GOA) Display
