    Samsung PS42Q96HD Clicking

    hi guys,

i have a samsung PS-42Q96HD that keeps clicking, heres what i have done so far,

checked the power board, caps ect all good and have already been replaced, so i did the control board test and the set powers up and displays the test patterns perfectly, from this i assumed it was the av board that was switching the set on and off,

i ordered a 2nd had board from the well known auction site, pugged it in a the set powered up and ran perfectly for hours, powered on and off a handfull of times to be sure, all was fine so i switched the set off and left it for the night,

when i tried to power it up in the morning the set was dead no signs of life at all, so i swapped out the new board with the old one and we were back to square 1 with a clicking set, during more goggling i found the info on resetting the 24c256, so i swapped the chip off the replacement board onto the clicking board, and again the set powered up and ran perfectly.

so again i did a power down and back on to check it was good and now back to the clicking!!

i have tried shorting 5&6 on the 24c256 more times than i can remember with many variations on the length and timing of the hold/release, i also removed the chip and erased it manually and set comes on for a little longer than other times then reboots and goes back to clicking,

a new blank chip i tried same happened, there is data being written to the blank chips but its never the same when i read it back, always bytes different, am annoyed at my self for not taking a dump of the eeprom before i fitted it, and i cant seem to find one on-line anywhere,

any ideas as im running out of them feels like but i know the bloody thing works which is annoying, got another board on order should arrive late next week so i though i would ask you guys in the meantime

sorry for the huge post but i wanted to add as much info as i could

    Regards

              Hi,

these are fine as far as i can tell, can i ask if there is a specific reason you beleive the psu is the cause of the issue? as it works perfectly during a control board test.

Not a case of believing its the PSU, but something is causing this fault to occur.. best to look at every common fault first.

                  ok fair enough,
looking at the power board it looks like someone has already replaced the common parts,
guy that gave it to me said that he had it looked at and "they fitted a kit" but it was still clicking, so i guess what they fitted was the common ics and caps.

am trying to get hold of a dump of the 24c256 for this model to test it again, as when i installed the chip from the dead board it powered up fine

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                    Assuming...

Hi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic...

Upgrading a Samsung ue55nu7096u with logic board from an ue55ru7105k -- good idea?
                    by ohren
I hope this is the right forum to post in despite not technically being a repair, but still a question of swapping boards.

I thought I'd explore the possibility to upgrade an existing working Samsung ue55nu7096u with the logic board (and power board if needed) of a newer model (ue55ru7105k) of the same size and appearance (and resolution). The reason being I'd like the extra inputs of that board including component in, an extra HDMI port and bluetooth. Its panel is broken so I have no use for the board otherwise.

The models launched in 2018 and 2019 respectively....
