Re: RCA 42PA30RQ plasma tv problem

OK, I am hoping to get a little help now. I replaced the control board making sure not to break anything else! Now I still have no picture, black screen, audio is fine!!! I do believe with the old control board I was seeing a few flashes of light across the screen on power up but now with the replacement board, I don't even get that. My first thought is maybe I got a bad control board?
Any suggestions on how to narrow this down would be appreciated.

I had the exact symptoms described in this thread. Have found the top ribbon on the control board not connected properly and I broke the clasp on the control board before I could get it connected and tested. Replacement control board on the way. I will keep you posted!

I have the same tv also, and guess what all the same problems.Went thru numerous parts X,Y mains buffers Power supply. So what i did was went back to basics. The RJH and RJP's 30E2's I ordered from china,A long wait but way cool,Also from shanghai PN096S3 128pin square chipthese repaired my x,y mains and my Y buffer. My paticular circumstance was with the Y buffer intermitantly grounding,it would fry the RJH's on the X main then cycle power on its own and damge the Y Main.Long storey short many of the used parts i purchased online From quote broken screens were bad.Its funny people break these sets usually with no power,But curiosity gets to them so they plug it in.Thus more bad boards.Hey Tom You are one very interesting person,I really enjoy this site and its people,Thank you for letting me be about.

I've never seen anything like this. 2 Months out of warranty the TV just goes black in the middle of watching it.

I have taken you as far as I can, Generally speaking if test patterns were to show it would indicate a main board fault... but as you do not get the patterns regardless of the main being plugged in or not i am not sure where to look.

I only have very basic understanding of PDP's at the moment, LCD and LED on the other hand I could of helped with

So is this a logic board problem?
Something I failed to mention was there is a brief static session (maybe 2 seconds) every time I turn the TV on.

AH, okay. One last question before I do this, I leave it connected to the control board just disconnecting it on the side where the A/V inputs are correct?

Connect everything but the LVDS cable, You should see a series of test patterns on screen.

Got it. What is supposed to happen when I turn the TV on? Also do I reconnect the Y and X boards before I turn the TV on or leave them disconnected?

I figured it out, there was little holes over the numbers but I could make 1 and 2 out for sure. Which cable is the LVDS?

Can you take a close up pic of the 4 pin connector?

Okay, I've located the 4 pin. The only problem so far is they aren't numbered. I'm assuming the pins are from left to right 1/2 then 3/4 on the bottom?

As far as testing the diodes and transistors yes. I just triple checked. I don't seem to have a short in the X or Y boards.

as far as "low" resisatnce goes Q5013 only reads 5.76 whereas the other 3 prongs with offset center prongs read a flat 10. I don't know if that makes a difference or not.

Panasonic TC-P65ST50 plasma in protection mode after incident
    by HonkBeep04
Hello everyone! I picked up this 65" ST50 plasma TV for $80 on Facebook marketplace two weeks ago. I have the basic electronic knowledge of a teenage computer geek, having assembled laptops and PCs and messed with soldering and software.

This afternoon I decided to disassemble it to mitigate a buzzing noise. This is a well known issue for this TV ever since they were new. The popular solution is to replace the loose internal screws for ones with lock washers, preventing any future buzzing. I figured that I could just fully loosen and tighten all of the screws securing the...

    Samsung PS51E550 Plasma TV
    by ArMaaN376
    Hello,
I am having Samsung PS51E550 Plasma TV. While the TV was working, a crackling sound heard & video went off with audio still ON. After switching it off & ON, the red LED on TV blinks six times & then off.
Opened TV cover & observed foll
    a) Green LED on the small PCB blinks at @5-6sec ON & off for 3-4 secs. Red LED on logic board ON
b)Vs & Va on power supply board raises momentarily to 209v & 58v resp & then drops.
    c) Cold test on Y-main board shows all 3 pins of FGPF4536 IGBT short to Grnd.
How to confirm Y -Buffer board...

    Panasonic plasma TX-P42ST50 - 6 blinks
    by jm1234
    Hi,
anyone able to provide the service manual for old plasma Panasonic TX-P42ST50E?
It turns off almost immediately (0~5 seconds after pressing the on/off button) and starts flashing the red diode 6 times.
I disconnected the left-hand side board (SC?, both the ribbon cable and the power cable to it) and also another ribbon going to bottom left board. Then the led signal is 8 flashes. According to service guide to another Panasonic plasma it would mean the left-hand side board is faulty. But I'm not sure it 100% applies to my model.
I checked that board for any obvious faults...
