Re: RCA 42PA30RQ abnormality
My meter never beeps but here's an example of what I found. Let's say 1200 across each pin, then all the sudden .1,.1,.1 then back to 1200 on the pins for the same chip.
Both my boards are like that. Different chips though. The new buffer I just got has the same model and PBA number, but different REV and PCB. Is that okay?

Re: RCA 42PA30RQ abnormality
Could the panel side be shorting the buffer?
I mean I can't find any apparent issue/s with the Y main... Unless there's something I haven't checked.

Re: RCA 42PA30RQ abnormality
I probably should have tested the board before I installed itthere is a few .01 readings on the pins

Re: RCA 42PA30RQ abnormality
So I swapped boards.. Not good. With my unit unplugged I connected the ribbons and slid it into the Y main. A little spark emitted from the connector closest to the top (I thought that was normal) tightened the buffer down turned the TV on and... Back to safe mode

Re: RCA 42PA30RQ abnormality
I have the new one, shall I swap it out and see what happens?

Re: RCA 42PA30RQ abnormality
My eyes played a trick on me.. The voltage drops rapidly with the buffer connected. without the buffer it held voltage +/-.1v

Re: RCA 42PA30RQ abnormality
No, the voltage holds steady. Tested it for about 2 minutes straight only randomly changed .1v either way.

Re: RCA 42PA30RQ abnormality
The X main becomes pretty warm with the unit on I was assuming that's normal? The Y main stays cold.
Edit: That is with the Y buffer disconnected so that everything else receives power.Last edited by Maushinator; 12-24-2013, 04:01 PM.

Yes then LED flashes 5 seconds on and 2 off except when I removed the Y buffer it then flashes the normal once a second.

Re: RCA 42PA30RQ abnormality
Wait is the VScan supposed to read a negative voltage? I thought something was wrong with my meter.. VScan is at -194.4

Re: RCA 42PA30RQ abnormality
I have a new Y buffer it came in today. There's no voltage at the Vscan with the Y buffer disconnected.
Edit: I just located the fuse "F5r" 55.2v at both endsLast edited by Maushinator; 12-24-2013, 03:03 PM.

Re: RCA 42PA30RQ abnormality
It glows at the start with a little multicolored static then goes into safe mode with the Y buffer connected. If I disconnect the Y buffer it will not go into safe mode.
Edit: By at the start I mean when I first power the unit on.

Re: RCA 42PA30RQ abnormality
Should I test the fuse with the Y buffer removed so that it doesn't go into safe mode to ensure that everything is getting voltage?

The pictures uploaded out of order but it's still grouped according to each board

Re: RCA 42PA30RQ abnormality
There is no fuse on either the E or F buffer boards. The voltages for VA and VS are normal upon testing them in DCv
