I have a Panasonic Vierra TC-P42x1 series Plasma that will not start up properly every time I turn it on. I will turn it on and get nothing but a blinking light on the standby light. I then unplug it and hold the power button til the light stops blinking and turn it back on and eventually say 1 out of 3-4 times trying eventually it starts up and then runs fine til turned off. sometimes I start it and it turns on 1st try and runs great. Are there any known issues with this model TV ? I have looked over the boards and don't see any obvious issues like bulged tops on caps or anything looking smoked etc . Anyone have any ideas or experience this themselves on this or any similar model TV ? Thanks.

Re: Panasonic Vierra P42x1 Start-up issues
When it does blink red, you need to count how many blinks you get in between each 2~3 second pause. It will be a number in the range of 1 to about 15. This is a specific trouble code. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: Panasonic Vierra P42x1 Start-up issues
Hey tom66 It doesn't appear to actually blink codes at me.
There are no fast blinks it will just blink once pause about 2 seconds then blink once over and over until I unplug the set or hold the power button in til it stops blinking then release.Last edited by Brentsky; 11-08-2013, 01:18 PM.Comment

Re: Panasonic Vierra P42x1 Start-up issues
After looking at the technical guide I am assuming it's a SOS detect and the blinks maybe must be error code 1 which is STB 5v Sense Time-out it also says 1 Blink SOS:
Communication error with IC9003. Does this sound right ? If so is this something I can repair by replacing components or would this rewuire a replacement power Supply board ?
Pages 33 and 37 are what I am assuming are the error coes as there aren't any fast blinks in itComment

Re: Panasonic Vierra P42x1 Start-up issues
That would most likely be an A board fault. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: Panasonic Vierra P42x1 Start-up issues
Have a TC-p42s1. Same similar tv just 1080p vs 720p. Its an smd capacitor somewhere on the A board causing this (mainboard). Most likely in the circuit that drives the ss board I never quite put alot of time into this in mine but I ended up disabling the sos1 on the mainboard. It.works but has some crazy sustain pulse outputs to the ss board if cold run.
I dont advise this approach of course.Did I leave the soldering iron on?Comment

Re: Panasonic Vierra P42x1 Start-up issues
I removed the pin from the loom. Look thru . schematics to find where sos1 on a board is. I wouldn't advise this thou. Believe its of ic9003. My board appears very different from yours now I got a closer look.Did I leave the soldering iron on?Comment

by HKS00Hello Everyone,
My name is Haris and, I am new to the forum. I would appreciate any help I can get.
Little back story on me and the issues that we are dealing with...
I work on a fleet that uses Panasonic CF-20s we have about 65 of them. Up until the beginning of the year they all had warranty so all the repairs were covered. Fast-forward to now and all of the units are out of warranty and it can't be extended past this point. We don't have the budget this year to replace them, so we will be stuck trying to fix any issues that may come up.

by riparoHi everyone, I have a Panasonic OLED TV model 55EZ950E, as soon as I turn it on I don't have any image the LED goes from green to red LED blinking every 4 sec, I found the service manual suggests checking OLED PANEL, PB BOARD, T-CON connectors but it seems like everything ok, I didn't find any burns under the pb board
I attach a link to download the service manual, thank you for anyone who can help me

by newgen2005I picked up a Panasonic DMR-ES30V (UK). When I first plugged in there was nothing, appeared completely dead, I then turned it on and off a couple of times at the mains supply and it came on. It accepts a cassette but then spits it out straight away, the DVD drive functions sometimes but then the unit turns off with nothing on the display. I took the back off and noticed the fan does not spin. The display for the DVD side does seem a little dim when it is working.
I have looked on google and people say it is most likely a capacitor/s.
Just looking for some advice on which...2 Photos -
by gre0013Hello. I need help opening the service menu on a Panasonic TC-59R62
Its an old CRT with bad overscan. The top left of the screen is cut out and I need to adjust it. Ive tried multiple methods online ie, holding volume down on the TV then pressing recall (with the 30m timer as well). Nothing I have tried has been able to bring up the menu if there's one at all.
Or is there an adapter I could use to fix this? Trying to use the TV for old retro games but again the top left of the screen is cut out and cant see anything displayed there. -
by CoinCoin88Hello there,
Google led me again to badcaps when trying to troubleshoot a dying Plasma that is sitting at my uncle's roughly 550 km from where I am. It's an old G20 from 2010 or so, that isn't being actively used so you can consider the panel "not too sollicitated".
Symptoms: TV starts, works for 5-10 minutes, then screen turns black and safety kicks in and spits a 13-blink code with the red LED. Once this code kicks in, the TV will not display any image anymore. Unplug it for a few minutes, plug it again, it'll work then fail a few minutes later.
