Finding leaking cap on the top pcb that join panel to tcon , orthe tape fix would work aswell

hi every one , just to mention somes TV that i have sussefully fixed in part because this site and tom66 exist , based on hes reccomandation about failing side tabs on somes LCD sets ,. then applied this same troubleshot on other brand of tv who look sufeering same symptom , should be usefull for you to know wich one i have repaired
SONY BRAVIA KDL-46S4100 Symptoms
mainboard shutting off when all flatcables plugged on Tcon
when only one flatcable is connected , by shorting ground of second section of the pannel ( still disconected of Tcon) part of screen not connected... -

WOW i have this 70'' quattron sit in center of my salon floor since 4 month i amazed by the whole information in this post ,
it appear my set have the infamous 2-5 flash of death ,,
after read the whole topic , 2 times , im still questionning regarding the fact of my setup run without the 2-5 error but not showing any logo or half image the led lightup with an uniform black lcd if i run the set without the lower left corner ribbon

benting 3 legs to fit smd surface , fill pads of solders , leave respectable gab betweed surface and part , fit an heatsink then froze the heatsink with a large dip of epoxy if you are not like me , you will not forget to not take a to high heatsink because on slim tv it will obstruct the backcover lol ( perssonal experience )...Last edited by Jeff Pepin; 09-03-2017, 10:36 AM.Leave a comment:

a friend have same tv and it permitted me to take an eye on his psu board , found that ICM871 is the same as 801 , marked 3A , and look like general pnp transistor with first finding ,. lets hope mainboard are ok lolLeave a comment:

hi , ive read this thread is resolved , i have this tv , mine blowed main psu fuse , blowed 2 smd switching mosfet st14n50n wich i replaced by 2 21NM60N to-247 ,added some hole to the board to fit them and 2 small heatsink ( just to be sure), tested it with a 3A fuse insead of 5 to let anychance if the primary goes wrong ,and cap filled up , primary circuit are alive but no standby , after some visual inspection , i have find ICM871 chipped out (circled in red on the budM pic ) the only thing left its the dye , did anyone can...Last edited by Jeff Pepin; 08-27-2017, 04:10 PM.Leave a comment:

i have a pretty good news for you , if its not too late
i have exactly the same TV , exactly the same symptoms , and the same smd cap exploded on upper buffer board( c875)
i have now succeffully fixed this tv
here what i found about this issue
Look like when this smd cap become short , it short the VPP line on the y-sus , when it fataly goes short , it burn Q507 ,Q552,AND Q553
When these transistors fail , the 2 ohms resistor feeding source voltage act like a fuse...Leave a comment:

i was reading this topic because i have the same tv , with exact same trouble , i was surprised when i saw your picture with a smd cap blowed in half , i decided to check if maybe same thing occured and of course , yes , the exact same cap have blowed apart too ,, so i have replaced it by what i read on this page but no improvement to , so i investigated on the y-sus board and found R559 (2ohms resistor) reading high as .568Mohms . REPLACED WITH A 2OHMS RESISTOR , PLUGGED SET AND POP ,BLOWED R559 AGAIN + Q507 Q552 Q553

man thanks ive just do some readings with black probe on frame , and it look like this mosfet are not switching on ,
if im ok in knowledge with a working fet ,when applying 2v to the gate it will switch on and the 5.0V from the drain will pass thru the source right ?
in this case the 5.0V not pass thru ,
option a 1,9V is not enought

Yess in fact i have removed all heatsink with parts on it then tested each one , replaced 4X 45F122 blowed open and reported as a capacitor and 3x 51n25 blowed open and reported as a diode between drain/source .
All transistors are actually good , there is a failed gate driver on this board and i dont know where , so if i probe source /drain in each stage of the sustain i will be able to determine wich one have no power or simply not switch on .but i fear the power in these board lol i dobt want to toutch the drain of...Last edited by Jeff Pepin; 03-31-2017, 11:13 PM.Leave a comment:

Im not just sure if its a good idea to put my multimeter on dc and probe my IGBTs while the set running to see whish section does not work maybe i will find whos not pushing current or simply not switching on
