    Help with Samsung 50" Plasma

I have a Samsung T5054/XAA. It is about 6 years old.
Last week I was watching it and the screen went blank, but you could still hear the audio.
After some searching, I decided to pull off the back and test the voltage on the SMPS. I pulled off the CN807-808-809-810 leads and tested the voltages of the Vs and Va terminals. The Va tested fine at 63 volts but the Vs showed 0 volts.

Should I assume that this board is bad, and either replace it or have it rebuilt? or is there something else I should test as well.

I did talk to a local repair shop and he said that if the Y Board wre to go, that it would cause the SMPS to shut down as well so as to not pump voltage in to the board?????

Not sure where to proceed with this.

    Thx

A common failure in these sets is the Y-main (Y board) failing in concert with the upper Y-buffer. Check your buffer chips for pin holes. Also, I wouldn't completely rule out the power supply, so keep that in the back of your mind.

Here are a couple threads, but there may be others:

Thx. Will do. Not arguing but what would cause the powers supply board to not show the right voltages if it was a Y board??

      Thx

Some PSUs go into protection modes to minimize damage. This may have happened in your case, but I can't remember if these Samsungs do that. I believe so.

Ok. Anyway to test the psu otherwise or does it take hooking up to a good y-main board to get the voltages back to where they should be. I'll take a look at the y-main and buffers when I get home.

You might be able to get the voltage to return if you disconnect the Y-main from the PSU.

Hi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic...

Upgrading a Samsung ue55nu7096u with logic board from an ue55ru7105k -- good idea?
              by ohren
I hope this is the right forum to post in despite not technically being a repair, but still a question of swapping boards.

I thought I'd explore the possibility to upgrade an existing working Samsung ue55nu7096u with the logic board (and power board if needed) of a newer model (ue55ru7105k) of the same size and appearance (and resolution). The reason being I'd like the extra inputs of that board including component in, an extra HDMI port and bluetooth. Its panel is broken so I have no use for the board otherwise.

The models launched in 2018 and 2019 respectively....

Samsung UN65KU6290F PS board blows fuses
              by valvashon
Samsung UN65KU6290F (May 2017); received from local Buy Nothing group. Was listed as "just went dead" and they wanted it gone. I brought it home, didn't notice anything visually wrong with the power supply board, looked up the cost of a new one and that's about as far as it went. Family was tired of tripping on the foot of the set so I decided to dig in and repair or toss.

Can't believe that I didn't check it earlier but I found the main 8 amp fuse blown. Jumped across it with a 10 amp blade style fuse and you can see that it literally exploded inside the second I plugged...
