Well, Y-main is definitely not working. I don't think it's the buffers. I took off the heatsinks and still the same. And it blows the fuse even without buffers connected. Back to square one I guess.Comment

Mystery solved, and not one of my finest moments. Since I'd taken out that FET to test it I thought I'd better replace the thermal pad between it and the heatsink and decided to use thermal compound instead. Didn't realise the original pad was also electrically insulating the FETs case from the heatsink which was of course connected to ground, so I was shorting the drain to ground. Rookie mistake I guess.Comment

Glad to hear I'm not the only one. I was feeling like a right idiot until you said that.
Everything else seems fine, but I've just ordered some silicone shims and will put it all back together and test when they arrive.Comment

Good news! With the FETs insulated again it's back to working. Now I've just got to put all those heatsinks back on and see about maybe putting in a fan.
Question, Tom. What would be a good way to connect up the fan? There are two unused sockets on the PSU marked at 12V which look good to me - see attached pic (1M04/5). But what kind of connector is that and can I get and attach one easily? I spent a while researching molex and other pcb connectors but still not sure what it is exactly, and don't want to have to go buying crimping tools or whatever. Would prefer to use a nice connector rather than soldering the wires on somewhere if possible.Attached Filesif you find these attachements useful please consider making a small donation to the site

I'm having an issue with the Samsung 740n's phase control setting. When I use the automatic adjustment, it sets the value to around 54 (with a range of 0-100), and the picture looks clear and sharp. However, after some time—like after playing a game—the text starts to look blurry. When I auto-adjust again, it may increase the value to 80, and everything becomes sharp once more. Yet, after a while, whether it's a few hours or a day later, the same blurriness returns, and I have to adjust it again.
I'm using the Samsung 740n monitor drivers instead of the default plug-and-play... -

Issue Description:- CPU Overheating to 100°C
- When I start the laptop from a cold state, it takes about a minute to reach temps around 80-90-100°C, and CPU thermal throttling triggers.
- When the CPU fan is running at full speed (by disconnecting PWM and TACH cables), CPU temperature stays around 50-60°C.
- However, when the fan is connected normally to the motherboard, it does not kick in at high temperatures.
- I also noticed a few times that the fan kicked in for a very short time, but it does not stay on consistently.

Hello everyone,
First of all, please excuse me as I'm quite new to this field.
I have a Philips 55PUS6804/12 TV. It turns on and off instantly (backlight flash). I personally think it's a backlight issue (faulty LEDs). Could you help me confirm my diagnosis?
I've checked and the T-CON seems to be fine. I disconnected one ribbon cable at a time at the bottom, but the problem persists.
The Ambilight works perfectly and stays on.
No sounds.

I raised the question of whether PWM on the power board "dim" pin would be a reasonable assumption for controlling the backlight of a Philips TV (55put6101/12): https://www.badcaps.net/forum/troubl...d-tv-backlight. I didn't receive any insights there so I went ahead and tried it.
The setup is basically:
Rpi3 hardware PWM → 220 Ohm → NPN transistor → dim pin
Transistor is switching the 3.5 V supply on the power board....
