Ve is an X-main voltage? I thought your issue was on the Y-main?

Well, for now you can isolated the X-main, you will have a dim grey or purple pic if Y-main working.

Well, Y-main is definitely not working. I don't think it's the buffers. I took off the heatsinks and still the same. And it blows the fuse even without buffers connected. Back to square one I guess.
Mystery solved, and not one of my finest moments. Since I'd taken out that FET to test it I thought I'd better replace the thermal pad between it and the heatsink and decided to use thermal compound instead. Didn't realise the original pad was also electrically insulating the FETs case from the heatsink which was of course connected to ground, so I was shorting the drain to ground. Rookie mistake I guess.
One which I have made several times. No damage done, other than fuse?

Good news! With the FETs insulated again it's back to working. Now I've just got to put all those heatsinks back on and see about maybe putting in a fan.
Question, Tom. What would be a good way to connect up the fan? There are two unused sockets on the PSU marked at 12V which look good to me - see attached pic (1M04/5). But what kind of connector is that and can I get and attach one easily? I spent a while researching molex and other pcb connectors but still not sure what it is exactly, and don't want to have to go buying crimping tools or whatever. Would prefer to use a nice connector rather than soldering the wires on somewhere if possible.
