LG 32LN575V No picture, sound and backlight working

Hi,

I've go a non working LG 32LN575V, it was described as initially having horizontal lines on it which got worse until there was no picture at all. From doing some reading it sounded like a TCON board fault.

I also have a 42LN575V wish a smashed screen, looking at the part numbers they are the same for both models, so I tried putting the 42's TCON board in the 32" unit and this didnt fix it. Looking at the TCON board's there are some very slight differences between the two.

So as a test I put the 32's TCON in the 42" and I do get a picture, albeit the colours aren't quite right. So I'm thinking that the TCON must be ok if I get a picture and that the two boards aren't the same which is why the colours aren't right when the 32's TCON goes into the 42"?

Does this mean my panel is actually dead? Is it worth a punt at getting new 32" TCON board? I'm reluctant to take a punt as a board off ebay is 40 odd quid.

Any advice would be greatfully received.

Before declaring the panel dead I'd try swapping the main boards.

Hi Tom,

Sorry I forgot to mention I'd swapped the main boards as well, I've had the two known good boards from the 42" in the 32" and still no picture. Then also both of the boards out of the 32" in the 42" and had a picture, but with not correct colours.

That would seem to pretty much indicate it can only be a panel fault. You could get lucky and find just a bad tab bond. These newer LCD panels have crazy bad failure rates!

If your T-Con has a TST_PGM landing I've read that if you feed it about 1.5v it will display a test pattern though I have not verified it myself yet.

Really sorry for not saying thank you sooner! Thanks very much for the advice. I stuck the TV on eBay for someone else to either have a go at repairing or strip for parts.
