    LG 42PG60UD - Clicking & cycling on/off

    Hey guys

    Model: LG 42PG60UD
    PSU: LPX54
    Mainboard: 60PG30UD-AA

Have disconnected the Y-sus and The Z-Sus. The symptoms are still there.
So I figure its not the Y-sus or Z-sus.

It cycles about 4 times then stays on with a faint picture.
Remote won't change the channel or turn tv off. the remote does make the led blink as if its communicating with TV.

If anyone can help that will be great.

I have attached a photo I found of the same PSU.
as I haven't got my parents camera at the moment.

    Readings I have.

    VS: 181v
    VS: 181v
    VA: 59v
    VA: 59v

It's writting on the tv what these should be
    VS :187
    VA:60

Just disconnected mainboard and shorted the Auto_gen now I have a test picture.
So this could mean a faulty main board?

      That would make sense.
Is this an LG plasma, with a Samsung power supply?!

Well, it's unexpected. It's the first I've seen like that. I rarely see any Samsung parts in LG sets and vice versa -- I think the companies being such fierce competitors rarely buy from each other.

It does seem like your main board is at fault.

            yeah its uncommon lol.
I think I have figured out why though, I rang LG and got the number for statewide they are LG spare parts, Samsung Parts and Panasonic Parts.

So get a new main board?
            or try find the fault?

              5v_det: 4.7v
              av_det 4.6v

not sure if these mean anything.
              should they be reading 5v?

Those both appear to be OK.
You can check LDOs, switching regulators, etc.
Also, if you can, try checking the RS232 output and see if a message is output.

what message output will it be?

Will it be along the lines of the software loading?

I don't know, I've never tried, but there may be -something- on the output.

#2 probably isn't a regulator. Others are fine.

LDOs = low drop out regulator, same as regulator, different name.

not the best photos but what can you do when you don't own a good camera.
I thought I would throw in 3 for good luck.

should I take a gamble and recap a few caps on the psu?

or just buy a new mainboard?
