For the sake of completeness, here are some pictures of the main board. There is some VERY crappy hand soldering going on here. Anyone hears of SW or HSCON capacitors?

Check out the crappy placement and obvious over heating on this chip next to the processor. Can't read the markings on it at the moment.

It's an eye opener to work on a cheap TV like this. The "ground" is a bunch of foil with adhesive taped all over the inside of the case and and the back of the LCD. The ground wires from the board are simply taped in place on this foil! It makes me appreciate the quality of the Samsung TV I worked on before (bad caps and all!).

It was flux. I was able to clean it off.

I've tried to cold spray and I can't get it to make the problem worse. I've been watching it a bunch today, and it seems the flickering and artifact doesn't go away when it's warmed up as I though. It continues to do it all the time. Bummer.

I've located a T-CON board for less than $20. Think it's worth trying it?

Re: Coby TFTV3227 Takes Time to "Warm Up"?

Thought I'd wrap this one up. It was NOT the T-CON. Tried a replacement with no change.

After watching the behavior a little while I began to think it behaved a lot like a video card with cold solder joints on the processor. I had repaired a Macbook Pro with this problem a few years ago, so I decided to give it a go.

I had to remove the heat sink from the processor first. Then I flooded the processor from the edges with low viscosity no clean flux until it ran out from underneath. I wrapped the entire board in two layers of foil, and cut out a hole around the processor. Using a heat gun, I heated the processor up to a little over 400C using a small piece of solder on the foil as a gauge for how hot it was getting. Once the little piece of solder liquified, I heated the processor a little longer hoping it was enough to reflow its solder.

Seems to have worked. Symptoms are gone now. I'm betting this is NOT a long term solution. If it cracked once, it will again. THe build quality of this TV is simply appalling. The LCD itself has a plastic housing with only the face frame being metal. It's marked as an LG part. The boards are screwed into the plastic back and the grounding is handled by foil tape.

Anyway, just wanted to close this thread.

Panasonic th-42px60en plasma TV takes time to turn on and make clicking noises
                by novak2
                Hello there,

I recently bought a Panasonic th-42px60en plasma TV second hand. The problem is :
The TV takes time to turn on from cold (being unplugged from the night for example), it tries to turn on with the clicking sound, then shuts off, then retries and so on. The TV is still working, just it takes time to boot.

From what I've read it seems to be bad capacitors on the power board, but I just want to see if anyone had the same problem with this TV.

                Thanks in advance.

Gaming Laptop Zephyrus S17 TFT not detected every time !
                by titomno2
                Hi guys,
I post my problem here because I think it could be a capacitor related issue (Asus support on this particular subject is non-existing).
So the computer is a Zephyrus-S17-GX735LXS-26T and the strange behavior is seen.
On cold start most of the time the internal screen is detected and a picture it works fine until shutdown, sleep or deep sleep.
Then the screen won't work for a long period of time.
If I wait 1 or 2 hours it work again most of the time.
When it doesn't work the batterie indicator blink 3 times white stop and the same schematic is repeated...

                Hi Masters.

My 1708 EMC3164 macbook have power issues. First it was working fine but a bit slow in booting. Net day i turned it on and it didn't powered on. And i tested with usb meter it suddenly @ 20v it takes 2.6 ampares and cpu gets hot. Then i checked the baord and PPBUS_G3H was short to ground. I injected 1v to it it takes 350ma and cpu gets warm. After opening L7410/20/30 there was inly L7420 line was short then i injected 3v to PPBUS_G3H and it takes 2.5 amps and U7420 got hot and i desolder it. Now after that in the start it takes 0.580 amps and goes to 620-30 mili amps....

                Hello all,

this is my first post, so if I make mistakes please do not hesitate to point them out, thank you in advance.

I got a Dell Latitude 5420 (Service Tag: 7RFM6D3, Motherboard: GDF40 LA-491P Rev.: 2.0 (A01)) which does not start and I want to repair it. These are the symptoms:

If the laptop is only connected to the AC adapter (battery removed):

When I press the power button, the keyboard backlight and the display backlight are turning on. Caps key light is lightning, but key does not respond to pressing it.

                The power/battery...
